Gonna Be Buying a MSP6

Hey guys I got a couple questions. I am gonna be buying a MSP soon and wanna do some little mods here and there as this will be my daily driver. I am looking for:

Intake
BOV
IPOD Adapter
Turbo Back Exhaust

I noticed alot of the exhaust systems are crazy expensive for these cars so if I am gonna buy one I wanna get top notch if I am paying that much.

Also I was wanting a short ram style intake. Who sells a good one for a good price.

I was also thinking of the HKS BOV with the recirculation adapter. Do these work well with the MAF?

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is my weekend track car.

Sexy SRT.

A turboback will definately put you back. If I were you I wouldn't get the downpipe for the exhaust. Lots of people end up removing them for smoking turbo's. Any BPV or BOV should be fine. The car runs much better with recirc however. Seems like front mount + downpipe = recipe for disaster with these cars.

Cobb has a new SRI available for the speed 6. Works well from what ive seen on these forums.

If you still have your heart set on the turboback: GHL, corksport, CP-E all make good products. On this car the downpipe and testpipe portion of the exhaust is the only thing that really matters. The catback is just for sound and you can go with any brand you want.

thats 1 nasty srt4...my friend has a black acr with silver stripes but hes prob not puttin down the numbers you are thats a huge agp front mount

so no go on the downpipe then? So I should get a test pipe to eliminate the cat and a cat back? The SRT doesnt have a test pipe its just a downpipe and catback so is there basically 3 sections to the MSP exhaust which is downpipe, test pipe, and catback? I looked at the Cobb SRI. I would like something short so it can be easily removed if needed to put the stock box back in. I might just do Intake and use a 1G BOV my buddy has since its metal and not plastic. Thats wierd that a downpipe would make the turbo s*** out.

Thanks for the complements on the SRT. I love this MSP6's tho they are a really nice car.

There was a bad batch of turbos that went out for this car from Warner, hence the whole smoking turbo issue. If you're looking for reasonable gains over stock without breaking the bank I would defiantly say intake (cp-e has a nice setup, or corksport since it also replaces the turbo inlet), motor mount, and look into exhaust options. Going full turbo back will flush your warranty right down the toilet. If that's a concern, you can always just add a test pipe to replace the second cat while pulling in some healthy gains. Anything cat back is more for sound than anything since smoothing out the split before the mufflers only gives a small bang for the buck. If you are willing to throw a couple of bucks at upgrades you can always go with a new downpipe and have the PG turbo rebuild done if your stocker smokes (netting even more gains). Down side is the dp is a bear to swap out if you end up with any issues that would fall under warranty (such as the smoking turbo). Just check with your dealer and see how they feel about bolt-ons before you bring a modded car in for any service and be prepared to swap back to stock if necessary. Some dealers will work with you and others will just void your warranty if you're running the wrong tire pressure. Such is life.

when talking about this car, drop the P.

the MSP is a competely different car, and you could end up confusing yourself when your reading info/finding parts.

its a MS6

I will prolly just run a 1G DSM BOV and get some kind of intake for it and thats it. Possibly a cat back that I could take on and off if need be for some real warranty work. The ones I am looking at have between 16,000-23,000 miles and are 2006's so have the 4 year or 50,000 warranty. I am just waiting for this place that has them for a REALLY good deal to get more in this week. They are all 1-2 year old lease returns!

Yes, that's the one to get IMO. It was the first thing I did to my car, and it made a world of difference. Worth every penny.

For the BPV, I'd just go with the Forge, since the stock leaks. Its a cheap, yet effective solution. The CAI, TP, and BPV, along with a motor mount and a short shifter kit w/ bushings will make the car a great daily driver.

I looked at the Forge. I might just use a 1G off a DSM and recirc it. Thanks for the info tho!

You shouldn't have to swap out a cat back system for dealer visits unless your local mazdaspeed dealer is a real piece of work. The BPV on the other hand would most likely have to be swapped out for any service since most dealerships don't like us tinkering with those parts. Hopefully you're able to land a solid deal on a ms6 soon.
