Hi guys

So here's my dilemma. I have 07 model (40k miles) with the following mods:
Cp-e full cat back (from turbo to the end with one cat)
Cp-e Xcel CAI
SU boost tubes
SU REM

My car started smoking couple of months back and it wasn't THAT bad. Now, when I come to a complete stop for more than few minutes, it look as if someone just did a burn out!

I took it to Wantagh Mazda twice and they could not replicate the problem. I even gave them permission to take the car home with the master tech with no found source. I just called Great Neck Mazda and asked them if they heard of PTP pill and the tech said there are mixed reviews; some works some doesn't. He said he can work on the turbo IF the car is in stock form.

I don't have the orginal parts because I bought this car used and it came with the mods.

Should I trade my mods with stock parts with the forum users in NY? If thats the case, how hard is it to swap out the cat back to stock?

I also put the car up for sale on craigslist the other day for 14k

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!

Honestly if I was you I would just buy a used stock turbo and put it in yourself. You can find them for real cheap. If you had only a couple mods on your car and they were easy to take off I would say do it but since there not I wouldn't trade people your performance parts for stock parts just to get the turbo fixed. Again that's my opinion.

I read that even if i put a reworked K04 turbo, it'll still smoke due to the design of our turbos... So I am guessing used turbo other than K04?

If I put a different turbo... do I have to change other internals?

man I wish there was an easier way! lol

In the meantime I'm going to try to find a stealership..ahem, I mean dealership, that are mod friendly in NY.

Thanks for your input

By the time you pull all of those parts and pay for stock replacement parts and do the re-install you are going to have spent way more money in labor and parts that what little you would save by having the dealer fix/service your K04 turbo.

I agree that you should consider picking up a used K04 turbo and enjoy the mods you have.

Just to remove the full turbo back CBE puts you right up to the turbo itself. It would be little more labor to pull and replace the turbo at that time.

Consider an upgrade to a reworked K04 from PG. If my turbo ever gets to "turbo smoke" issue that's what I intend to do. Note that I am running a full catless dp/rp into the stock CBE and am not smoking. I have 38,000 miles on the car, about 25,000 of which has been since I replaced the stock downpipe and cats.

Just a thought. You are about to spend a lot of money and time to go back stock just to return it to the dealer for a turbo change out.
