Glove box light

Is this a Canada only item? I've read posts about it and have seen the assembly pics but have no such light in my glove. Anyone know more about this- why the US doesn't have it (assuming someone does).

Us fat americans needed all the weight reductions we could get a hold of so thats why they did it. Plus our country has weather that allows us to grow things like carrots to help our eyesight. And also, if you are ever stranded in canada, you will need the light to help warm your freezing bodies so it is standard there.

Hope this fills in the gap of smart a$$ remarks for the day. :-)

Is it like the fridge light? How do you know it really goes out when the door is shut?

The glove box light will only come on if your parking/headlights are on.

HA! THe mystery is thus solved, thanks!

I wish this could be separate of the lights however, just because the sun is out, doesn't make looking into the deep cavernous glove-box any easier.

Just like I'd like to kill the LCD screen auto half dim feature with head lights on! Running your headlights during the day (state law in Florida when it rains) makes it very difficult to read the display.

2) Yes it does, coldfronts here are caused by you guys driving mazdas really fast beating up people that litter.

Celsius? I always thought the C stood for Canadian(headbang)

I thought Celsius meant that our phones were watching us.

OK slow ones - sound it out . . .

Cel - see - us

Goes to show what an idle mind like mine will come up with.

If you hold the "voice" button on the nav controls down for a moment a little menu will popup letting you put the display back into "daymode" even with the lights on, then it will be at full brightness and not inverted anymore.

And if you turn the little knob to adjust the dash lights all the way up, it will beep and the big LCD display will go back to full brightness too.

And I also have the light in my glove compartment, I just tried it, no gloves though... In this climate you need gloves to protect you from the heat

Yea, DIM button makes the NAV get bright, no issues there. I will have to try the lights knob tho, that's interesting.

X10James- I tuned the little light dash knob and there is no beep and there is no full brightness on the LCD. Can someone verify this works on their 5?

I did the other night. The display was burning my retinas to I turned the knob slightly to the right(?) and I heard a beep and it dimmed. Turned it the other way, it beeped and went back to full brightness.
