"Experts say when a motorist's car is damaged on a state highway they have very little legal recourse."

Don't think for a minute there won't be a lawsuit if the state doesn't pony up voluntarily. I'm far from being 'sue happy' but this is a clear cut case of responsibility.

of course everyone will get sued...who know's this guy may never be able to work again.....everyone will be at the table...and the one with the deepest pockets will lose big time!!

Wow...yea I watched it on the 10:00 news Friday night. That's crazy.

"Police said it appeared a tractor-trailer dislodged a metal catch basin cover, which flew into the windshield of a 2003 white Toyota Corolla, which then crashed into a Jersey barrier."

Stay way far back from these things.

I saw that also....the worst part is the several witnesses each TV channel got who claimed to have filed complaints over the last few weeks....which of course means it could have been prevented.

I get scared shitless when I have to go over those things. Its the one time I stay out of the passing lane....I've seen them bounce around before and I'm also paranoid about bending a rim on one that is sunk down too much.
