Hello, could someone please tell me where can I find one of these 3 wires so I can install a GIZZMO Shift Light?

- tacho signal
- ignition coil negative wire
- igniter trigger wire

Thank you.

Are you talking about the instructions? I have those but there's no reference to the Mazdaspeed 3, there's nothing on their forum or FAQ either. I've just posted the same question there.

If I'm missing something, let me know...

You can grab the tach signal from the dash. The Negative Coil wire is on one of the coils, usually black. The Trigger is usually the colored wire on the coil. Just pick one of the coils and see if it works for you.

Has someone ever installed a shift light or after market tach?? No idea on where these wires are?

I am currently doing this and planning to document a "how to". See my thread at http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3577075&postcount=1 .

I am traveling on business now, but hope to get into it this weekend. Basically you will pick up the power from the fuse block with a Radio Shack Fuse Tap #270-1204. Connect to the ground point of your choosing, I have not decided yet. For the signal I will use ECU pin 2BA. It is the plain white wire closest to the front and the engine. IIRC, it is the second wire from the front on the row closest to the engine. This is the 5V logic pulse from the PCM to the amplifier built into the coil for plug 1. I tested it by sticking a straight pin into the wire temporarily. I suggest you do the same before committing to the installation. If the logic pulse will not trigger your light, you may be SOL. You will need to select "1 coil per cylinder" if this is an option on your light.

I am not sure there is a conventional tach signal going to this tachometer. I believe it is driven by the CAN bus.

Good luck and please share your results. I believe a shift light will be very beneficial on this car.
