This is a GI thread, to see if we can get Beau of MAM or DSM convert or someone to make an n/a downpipe with a hi-flow pre-cat that won't throw a CEL. Something along the lines of the one wagnermotorsports makes that bolts on to the stock exhaust manifold or in my case the wagnermotorsports shorty header. I think that a lot of people with the set-up like mine would really like to have this option and stay legal gaining hp while getting rid of the stock gay restrictive dp and POS pre-cat. I started a list at the bottom to see how many people we can get for this hopefully someone will pick up on it and we can get this made at a reasonable price remember the more people the better!! let's make this happen (2thumbs) .

Here is what I mean this is wagners Hi-flow N/A DP-

I allready have both the downpipe and the middle pipe from Wagner and both with cats. I have also have a Bosal cat back. The only thing missing is the header. It makes quite a difference. It doesn't feel like I lost anything at the low end and past 3500 rpm it really comes alive. For instance, a friend of mine has a 2000 lx and before the downpipe he always walked on me in 3rd gear and up, I just didn't have the power to gain on him. But now its the other way around :D :D. And no cell, the computer seems perfectly happy with the random technology cat :)

And a word of advice for those with a small budget. If you want to change the downpipe and middle pipe. If you change only one of them at a time, start with the downpipe, you'll gain more power because it is the most restrictive of the two. And I tried both combinaison and you can tell a lot more power with the downpipe only than just the middle pipe.

Just tought you'd like my impression on the mod :) Lots of money but excellent workmanship and quality, for the Wagner at least, and it works even with the stock manifold :)

P.S.: Sound wicked with the Bosal (laugh) (laugh) (click on link for small video clip) http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=3300295093&p=4140269486&idx=39

Most people would rather just lose the 1st cat in favor of a full header... price is an issue to.
I guess your right, but what about the people who want to stay legal and emssions friendly? I know this would be great for those who live in california and other places where the emission laws are very strict. Yeah price is an issue but I think if a decent price is set-up then this could really be a success.

I am interested in this, actually had one ordered and paid for with Wagner, but after being jerked around for 2 months cancelled the order and got my money back. If someone makes this for $225 - $250 and can reliably deliver, I'd buy it. Local shop here would do a custom job and piece it together for $280 - $300 (depending on cat used) and I passed on it because I didn't get a good vibe they would do it right.

You know what would be a good idea. Have a 41 header(OBX) with a small hi-flow cat inserted on the DP and O2 bung tapped after it. The price would be competitive and u would have the best of both worlds. Although i guess someone could have it done themselves.

What happened to the Wagner DP?? Maybe you could get that specific Random tech cat and the DP is easy to make. If u could get the RT part number maybe people would show interest. Good luck!

Thanks I refuse to give up on my quest, I'am contemplating getting a hi-flow mangaflow cat to be used as a pre-cat but the only problem is that I will get ***** because I would have to get a custom DP made and have them weld the hi-flow cat to it. Not to mention make custom flanges so it could fit properly.

Yeah I know what you mean I'am going to see if I can find the part number for the RT.

I looked through the site but I don't know what kind of cat they are using

Here is the site- http://www.randomtechnology.com/

i run the hiboost j pipe with a MAM mid pipe
Do you have any pics of this set-up?? because if the hi-boost j-pipe bolts-on to the stock manifold maybe I can have a small hi-flow cat welded in there.

I run an iON downpipe with a high flow primary cat, with a Traveller equal length shorty header on top of the stock precat, which has the outlet bored out to 2.25", and was... Releived... Of the ceramic cat material. The whole cylinder just pops right out, amazingly.

Do you have any pics of your set-up this is like what I'am looking for, I also don't want to throw a CEL are you throwing a CEL at all with this set-up? Another question how much did your set-up cost and was it custom??

Thanks.

I'll have to hunt for the pics, but in reference to the oher questions, no, I don't have a CEL, because I have a pair of spark plug nonfoulers placing the second O2 further from the exhaust stream.

Total, the whole setup cost me about $700. You can do it a LOT, LOT cheaper, though. The Traveller header was VERY expensive, and only a few of them were made. The cat-back was a custom job, using the Mazda Sport Exhaust as the outlet. The downpipe cost me about 385$ with a cat. It's actually made by Brullen, but I would suggest finding a different place than iON to get it. They're pretty pricey, and kinda slow.

Done again, I could probably do the whole shebang for about $700 again, but this time totally eliminating the precat, rather than just removing the ceramic tube inside.

That's assuming $300 for a mid pipe with cat, $200 for an OBX header, and $200 for a custom mendrel bent 2.25" stainless cat-back with my choice of mufflers. But I have connections regarding the cat back part.

I'm really interested in a Downpipe and MidPipe w/ cats. id like to get the wagner ones but they are pricey along w/ the shorty header. will his exhaust parts throw a cel?

I'd love it if another company who actually speciallized in making parts for our cars made a good set of exhaust components w/ cats. I need more power.

Nope, that's the sweet thing NO CEL and emissons friendly but the problem is they are so damn pricey.

why not run the MAM midpipe with high flow cat with the hiboost j pipe it will add a few extra ponies for sure

Hmm. You know what would be neat? If someone made a header-back exhaust for the P5. The turbo guys have the turbo backs, so why not us, dammit?
