GI: MSP Tubular Mani / Downpipe

Is there going to be a flex in the DP?

That depends on what everyone wants, more option, more it costs. I can certainly put a flex bellow in there.

keep in mind, with the 2.5" it will be using a stock type doughnut gasket unless otherwise specified, so that should provide enough flex with the bracing to keep it from cracking (were implementing a bracing system for both the dp's and the mani).

on the 3" they will be either unterminated but longer so you can make your own connection or a diamand 2 bolt flange at the stock length.

but whatever you guys want.

I have a flex section in mine already so I'd be looking at that non flanged product.

i'd be in for a flex pipe with an "un-finished" end. How much past the "j" section are you looking to go?

maybe i'm confused on what's being provided. For some reason i thought it was the s-pipe, j-pipe, and mid-pipe. I guess it's more just an s and j-pipe replacement that would just be welded onto the end of the Vibrant exhaust.

That's what I am doing with it basically. I was under teh impression that it would end about where the stock j ends at the spring bolts.

I'm still pushing for a 3" midpipe to be made because there are currently none on the market.

Its just the downpipe (S&J Replacement). Adding a midpipe would drive the cost up considerably, so most agreed on just the downpipe.

I can probably have a midpipe made but it would be in low volume so it would cost more than one you can probably get locally.

the 2.5" one will terminate like the stock one, just larger (just like corksport). the 3.0" one will either not be terminated so you can make your own which most do, or i can put a diamond flange at the stock location.

im still working on pricing for everything.

Talked to the shop the other night. Some good things to note:

As far as updates go. Im allowed to post anything i like. I guess im in charge of this whole ordeal. So, cad drawings, prototypes, drawings, material charts...its all good for me to post.

Pricing:

Downpipes:

2.5" $250-$350 is doable. This will include bracing (unlike ANYTHING on the market currently) and an 02 bung for tuning. I will get actual pricing once i get something modeled.

3.0" will be somewhere in the 300-400 range, same ordeal. Bracing and 02 Sensor bung. I will try to work the pricing so if u get unterminated but longer and a diamond flange to not cost more. again i will get actual pricing once i get closer.

Manifold 800-1000. This will include all stock provisions (EGR/02, etc) and a one of a kind bracing system. The bracing will allow for the manifold to provide years of extended service and avoid cracking that is so common with other manifolds. This manifold will be not only virtually modeled and flowed but i will beat the crap out of it personally (Im a brown belt in kung fu so this mani can expect many punches to its FACE!). Both physically and in normal conditions. This unit will be the LAST manifold you will need and want. That is my goal. Everything will be made for our car specifically. From the flanges to the runner size to the bracing... all of it. Again, i will get an exact price as soon as i can.

I just gave a range so dont be offput by the high side of pricing, Im going to keep these things cheap as i can. Also keep in mind that it will be a 1/2 down half when shipped process so you can save up for the 2nd half. These parts will not be comparable to anything else in terms of quality. You have my word that they will be unmatched. They will be made by someone with the same car as you, and tested rigerously (me). Everything from the welding to the materials will be top shelf. I could cut corners to save you guys some money but thats not happening. I want to make this the last downpipe and turbo mani you need or want to buy. Dont be off put by the pricing, remember that you get what you pay for. I think that philosophy has been expressed as truth so many times on this forum alone, nevermind elsewhere. So remember that once you get which ever piece you decide on, my aim is to not have you need another one. And if it holds up like i plan, its resale value should be excellent.

**** yeah. I'm getting excited. Give that mani a two piece for me while you are at it!

You have any idea as to the orientation of the O2 boss on th downpipe? I ask because with the AWR oil pan the boss on my Corksport j-pipe was too close and I couldn't put my wideband in there. It would really suck for me to have to plug one O2 boss only to have some bad shop weld another one onto such a nice piece. If you have them angle it downward everything would be fine. I can take a picture of what I mean it you'd like. I just don't know how many people out there could encounter this same problem.

BTW, $300-$400 is fine with me. :)

or dnt thats fine to..lol..jk...but when do you think these might be ready for a deposit??

Actually that is a good topic for discussion, Terbow when do you think the initial deposit for all items will be (not implying that all items will have the same time line of course)
