GI: MSP 3" Downpipe

I was thinking about getting a custom 3" Exhaust done. This shop i go to is very reputable and does good work. Albeit they get a lil slammed at times, the waits arent as bad as ive seen with other places. Would there be any interest in getting this produced? Cause when i go i can have them jig it up. I dont have any problem getting a group buy together, i just need to show him theres interest. It would be Stainless Steel for sure, and 3" Ill probably so seperate wg path and go 2.5" to 3" on the downpipe (like in the pic). Im sure we can play with options and once i go there i can talk turkey. Heres a pic of the turbo header they made for my cav.

they do nice work. so basically, i want to make sure theyres interest before i ask, im gonna get it done either way but thought id give it a whirl. Im not trying to compete with anyone, but ill dyno it and such to show gains.

ooooooooo!!!!! exhaust mani. mmmmmmmmmmm!

see if they can produce a exhaust mani for the msp.

i don't need a whole turbo back, just the s-pipe and j-pipe.

i can do that too. That be a good idea actually. The rest is easy custom work. You want a new turbo mani? cause dc sports is makin one, this place will cost alot for custom that header is 321 stainless, you dont want to know what it costs lol. I can ask them once i get the exhaust stuff done. Im sticking with my oem one for sure though.

i think most people would be intrested. iON rocks no doubt, and they make a top quality product. I just dont see why every other car (i.e. Exclipse GSX) can offer manufactures that produce Turbo Back exhausts for under 499.99 the MSP only has one real 3" option and it costs 1299.99. Granted I would love an iON and is in the plans, but at the cost its gonna be while, especially since I havent even bought my MSP yet (28 days and counting)...

i dont expect for a turbo back to be under 500 but if i can get it between 500-1000 for stainless i think that would be great. stainless isnt cheap.

Sure, tons of interest... but it's tough, these threads appear constantly, but no parts ever get made. Hard to commit when that's going on.

not asking for commitment, point well taken though. i know how it is. I just was looking to see if its worth jig'ing it or not cause id have to pay for it depending on interest but if they jig it the first time i wont have to give it to em again. i dont mind paying for it as long as itll help everyone out. but theres no doubt these people can make it, i just want to minimize any downtime it might cause myself. :)

if i could get a s-pipe, or s-j combo 2.5 or 3in made of SS for under 500, i would be in. A high flow cat option would be nice as well.

I would definitely be interested in the s pipe and or j pipe. Actually I'm sure a lot of people would be interested considering mostly everyone who has custom exhaust either doesn't have the j pipe made or spipe made. Either way, the shop to do this would make bank.

I'd be interested in the s-pipe and midpipe with a high-flow cat. I don't care about the catback as I already have a high quality piece on there.

That's the manifold for your cav? That looks like Johhny Mac's Manifold. HIS s*** KICKS BUTT! Seriously, he's so dedicated to quality its not funny.

i'd definitely be interested in an upgraded s-pipe ... 2.5"

doesn't have to be stainless, just good quality.

drew.

i'm interested in everything 3" turbo-back including s-pipe, j-pipe,high flow cat, over the rear axle, mandrel bent stainless steel

yeah i have alot of demands, but i am saving my pennies for an ion so...

Don't get me wrong, if you make the parts, show pics etc, and can get me the stuff within a reasonable time - instead of many many months... I'll be the first to paypal the cash. Hell show me a good exhaust, with quality fit in 3", I'll buy the whole damn thing and sell my Corksport, but I'm not paying insane prices for it. Some vendors act like this car's exhaust requires reinventing the wheel...

That is Macks mani, i been there since its incarnation and even helped install a few kits. The shop we go to is great. Ill go there when i get a moment. So where should this pipe end then? Where the midpipe stops? I think thatll be easiest so anyone can get any catback they want. Right?

Well im not a company, Im not looking to make money on it either, whatever it cost me it, thats what it would cost you. Its definately going to be stainless. i cant offer you guys a warranty other than manufacture defect. So stainless is best. it wont rust and last as long as the car. I can ask them for prices on lesser matierals also, but i wont honor any rusting issues. Im just doin this as a favor. It will be mandrel bent either way.

Now for flanges.... theres 2 types. theres one thats completely open and theres one that is kinda like what ion uses.

flange 2:
this one would be the easiest i think, we can just cut out the wg hole and run a 2nd pipe and merge it into one (similar to ion). This way we can divorce the 2 flows. (ill look into adding a wall between the 2). Or the other flange which is really open and would mix the 2 flows right away. I vote for the 2nd flange. Any thoughts?

Is there anyone here that has access to a laser cutter or water jet? My buddy runs a water jet at a granite shop and feeds the cuts through CAD, and the result it very clean and accurate. That thing will cut through SS like nothing, too. The only problem is that he can't sit there and make a bunch of them. But if someone else has access to something like that, it won't be hard to recreate that shape. All it takes is a trace of the turbo flange, then use that as a reference. It would only take one trial cut and you could make the necessary changes easily. Then all you have to do is work on the tubing.
