I'm really looking into trying to get something together for those of us looking for lightweight rims for our MS3s. I see often on forums for other car makes (ie/ subes) GBs for Rotas and other wheels. My question is this--can a proven demand from customers cause or prod a company into providing a GB??

I'd really like to try and get a GB for Rota SDX, Kosei K1TS, or 5Zigen FN01RC all of which are <=16lbs for 17" rims. Specifically, I'm personally wanting 17" rims, but may take 18s, depending on the price and weight.

Can I get a shout out for who would be interested in something like this? Or, what the process would be to get a company to do this? Anybody on the inside want to help or give helpful hints to newbies to this?

Daniel

EDIT: Since we're looking at 17" rims, these will most likely fit MSPs and P5s. The more, the merrier for this GB!

I am interested, but would like to steer towards Enkei RPF1 in 18s. Only reason being the wheel gap with 17s + the RPF1 in 18x8 is 17 lbs.

Either way I support this.

The RPF01 looks nice, but $$$ ($359 @ tirerack). I'm looking for something <$700 per set. I'm thinking that's do-able for the 17"s mentioned above...

Thanks for the support!

Just to clarify--I'm looking for a company to give a "better than advertised" price due to the number of people that would be buying at once. Just a thought...

Daniel

I might be interested in some 18s. There are some Kosei K1 TS wheels at tirerack that look pretty good and are only 16 lbs.

I thought our stock wheels were forged but they're so heavy that now I have doubts. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Unfortunately, the Kosei's don't come in 17x8" for us... (rant)

However, I spoke with a major seller and they said if we have 10+ people, they would knock 10-20% off the price...pretty nice! I'll be contacting other vendors to see what they have to say later today.

If that's not an incentive to join this GB...(flash)

Daniel

If you guys can find another source for Kosei K1TSs, then we could probably do something...one certain vendor won't work with group buys...

Daniel

The 5Zigen FN01RC is only ~15 lbs for the 17x7 version and comes in different finishes...and it is eligible for the GB discount and free shipping! (Making these wheels ~$600 for a set of 4!)

Daniel

Same bolt pattern, hub bore, etc, as the MSP. I think the only difference was the offset, and that was only slight, no big deal.

Daniel

Ok, let me hear a not-so-official roll call for those interested in these 17" rims:

Rotas (be they SDX, Subzero, or something else--unsure of price)
5Zigen (FN01RC--~$600 shipped w/disc.)
Kosei (GIVEN a willing supplier can be found--I kinda doubt it, though)
Konig Countersteer (identical to the SDX, but lower priced--$550 shipped b4 group disc.)
Konig Runaway (identical to the Rota SVN, but lighter and lower priced--$550 shipped b4 disc.)

Just reply with a +1 for XXXX wheel if you could. I just want a rough count of hands. (Only 5 are needed for the discount for the Konigs!)

I am interested in any decent looking 17" lightweight that can fit in the under $700 category. The Kosei's are pretty nice, the 5zigen are good too. I have 205 50/17's, so that's my only limitation.

Just took a look at some of the Rota's... The SDX would work as well.

I would be interested in the Kosei's for sure. FYI, they do make 17x8 in the K1TS that fit our car, they just don't list them. Go to Tirerack and search for 17" winter wheels for a 2007 RX8. 17x8 +45 offset, same lug pattern, I think like 15.7 pounds.

17x7 K1TS +50 offset only weigh 13.7 lbs!!!!

Got pics of the 5zigen?

Here you go. Also, the Konigs are both 16lbs and 17x7". For possibly around $500 shipped (for a set of 4!), that's the best deal IMHO...

See below for the pics.

The first is the 5zigen, then the Konig Countersteer and Konig Runaway (Picutred is the Rota SVN, but they're identical wheels.) All are available in different finishes, with the runaway actually coming out later next month.

Alright! Two on board--anyone else?(rockon)

I *think* that we all have to order the same wheel, just different colors are fine. I'll have to check and make sure. So, try and be as flexible as you can!

Daniel

Just to be clear, here is a pic of the Konig Runaway (as taken from another forum post by the dealer I spoke with about the GB). I like this particular wheel color, but it won't be out until late December I'm told.

What would the idea be for price on Runaways in 18, shipped? And could you get them in any other color than black? If you could get them in Gold/Bronze for the right price, I'd be in for sure.
