don't worry, it won't be happening for atleast another 3 weeks probably considering no place has the k1 rods, everywhere is sold completely out until they get the new batch in april

cool. :D i'll put my new clutch in and then see if there will be some money left over 4 the K1's and pistons and cams too :D

So I think I fall into the boat of wanting to keep my car a daily driver. If I were to get this combo, what else would I need for installation? I'm saying anything that might become a weak point when I would up the boost to about 12-13 psi on the stock turbo or upgrade to a larger one? I'm not looking to get huge HP but I would like to play with the idea of 200-250whp.

when is the end date to jump on this. im very interested but dont wanna completly commit i need to see if i can fund this build.

these internals with a gt28, fmic, and 3inch exhaust will get u there mate... u will need some type of computer to tune her but u'll get there with these.

so.. if i bought this 800$ set up, APPROX what would a shop charge to install them?

I guess i dont understand HOW it normally costs people 6-10k for going "forged" when these only cost 1k?

Yea I got the SSAFC and I would run stock turbo until funds are available.

Precisely what I was wondering. What about all the stuff like ARP studs, head gasket, valve job? Is all that necessary for under 300whp? I don't want to risk s*** by upping boost.

depending on the setup.. k1s generally are good for somewhere to the 18-20 psi range.. when you go Pauter (BEST OF THE BEST!) you have a considerable amount more.. FORGING a motor isnt only in the block..
you have machine work on the head, upgrading the head, machine work on intake and exhaust manifolds.. i was easily in my old forged setup 6-7K! This combo is good for bolting in your block and know you are safe with the stock head to boost around 15 and now worry about blowing through your block..

as for price of install.. most shops will prob charge a pretty good amount.. seeing you have to remove the motor to do this.. i would reccomend getting a donar block/crank that was good, will save you more money in the end..

you will need to get new rod bearings, new front and rear main seals, a new gasket kit, b/c this requires a teardown of the motor to do it..

also you will need to take the assembled short block to a machine shop to ensure its all balanced/clearanced properly.. (usually only cost a couple hundred)

as for an update.. all the shops i was planning on using dont have any in stock at the moment.. its said to be beg-mid may before they will carry a sufficient stock.

Okay that's what I was expecting. Sadly my bank account is hurting right now so I don't think this is a possibility for me at the moment, but will there ever be a 2nd round later this year maybe? If not I still might be able to get a good deal on some parts elsewhere, but thanks for giving me some food for thought. I don't need to spend 6k on the motor for my power goals so this is some good ideas.

so it would probably be 2-2500 total cost to boost 12-15PSI "safe".. which is about 230hp.. right?

I would love to get some forged goodies put in, but I think I'll see how far I can take my bolt ons first. I hope you have another GB later.

My motor is being built with this combo, I had work done to the head also so I'm hoping to easily push out 250whp but not sure what else I need other than a fmic and ems

fmic/ems/upgraded injectors/ SRI/ exhaust/welded lsd/upgraded clutch.. preferably a lightened flywheel.. good tune!
