Beautiful car coming from a former turbo MP3 owner. If you ever get down to the 15k mark let me know! Beautiful!!!

If he goes down to 15k you'll have to beat me to 'em...i'll sell my '02 Pro AND the turbo kit!!

No, wait...I'll just sell the turbo kit and I'll buy marks ride. Gotta keep a spare!

PM me Marko and we'll go from there.

Feel free to set up a time to come look at the car if you want and we can talk about it then.

Question on the mods....

How noticeable a bump have the engine mods given the car? I realize you don't run it down the 1/4 mile, but I'm sure you must step on it occasionally, and have a seat-of-pants guage as to: "a bit quicker", "much quicker", etc...

Maybe some of the MSP techies can pipe in, too. I know these cars are good for a tick or few over 15sec in the 1/4 mile, stock. What would be a ballpark of what this car could do? Are these a good balance of mods?

Same goes for the suspension... I can only guess it handles a bit better. Has it lost it's semi-civil, stock ride characteristics?

Kinda curious how it might stack up against a new Speed 3.

I'm pretty knowledgable on engines, mods, etc... in general. Just not Mazda-specific.

I've been browsing for a minty MSP3. Stock is always preferred, but you've obviously done this one right, and haven't abused it. Might be a short time before I'm ready to buy. But judging by this thread, this one might still be available!

I'm in CT, too. So not a bad ride...

Thanks for any details you, or other members can give me! (drinks)

Thanks for your interest in the car.

To answer some of your questions, I really don't get on the car at all as I'm a cruiser. When I do drive the car no one around here tries to race me or push my buttons so I'm never tempted to get on it. I always shift at 3k and I have been driving it everyday for the past week to try and use up all the gas in the tank so I can fill up with fresh gas before it goes into storage in October.

In this week the highest I have taken the car is s tick over 4k.

To me the mods made a difference but will it keep up with a MS3 - NO, especially since my car only boosts 5.5 lbs.

I did buy a GReddy Profec B boost controller and was going to put it in when I hooked up the Unichip but I have no interest in doing that because the car is fine for me in its current state. I believe this car would be great with 8 lbs of boost and can do so safely with the mods I have.

With all the suspension mods, and wheels/tires it handles so much better than stock and with the stock suspension it is a great car. I didn't loose much driveability with the suspension. I find it still very pleasant to drive and so does my wife. The suspension is dampening adjustable so you could make it harder or softer. Currently it is set to 5 in the front and 7 in the rear so you could go lower to make it softer if you wanted to.

Car is always on Jackstands from October through May to avoid the suspension load and flat spots on the tires.

Sorry I can't give you any numbers as to what I think it can do because I have never been on a track and can't gauge what I think it could do from experience.

It's a pretty quick car (even shifting at 3k) with exceptional handling and great looks in my opinion.

If you need any more information or pics let me know. If you wanted to talk it over in person, PM me and I'll give you my cell number.

i would've taken this in asap , except before i got my car at 20k mil , bone stock i didn't know this forum existed until after i bought the car i tried to look for parts and this poped up, and now i see this car for sale.

I don't regreat my msp but for that money i could've got better msp.

As to the
DMC04 , these cars will hold around 225-250 max whp as that the limit of engine internal + stock lsd with proper bold-on/mods at <10psi fine tuned.

Thats a quick ans to you, but there's obviously room to make things happen but they'll be risky unless you go forge + weld stock lsd at the least.

BTW , nice ride and good luck on sale

thanks for the kind words speed3.5 and best of luck with your Speed as you mod it. Hope you have as much fun as I did. :)

BTW - the car just passed inspection yesterday with all the mods/Unichip. No problem passing and it is now good for 2 more years.

ok couple questions, do you still have the stock wheels as well? you say you have hardpipes and upgraded SMIC but one pic has a FMIC just wondering what you have, and also wondering what part of south jersey you are in and how far are you from montclair where my GF lives

I don't have the stock wheels and tires. I sold them as the car is not a daily driver and is only insured late spring and summer so I didn't have a need for a second set of wheels.

The Essential Speed stage 1 and 2 consists of Stainless hardpipes and a Spearco core FMIC. I had all of the items polished for an extra cost as well. What you see int he pictures is what the car looks like in its current state. It has a FMIC. I looked back in my original post and couldn't find any mention to an upgraded SMIC. I apologize for any confusion in my wording.

I used to live in North Jersey near Montclair. I'm about an hour and 20 minutes south from Montclair. Take the Jersey turnpike to exit 5 and I'm about 5 minutes from the exit.

What are your thoughts on that FMIC setup?

I'm very happy with it, it looks great, is built very well and seems to do the job. I was told the intercooler can support up to 250 hp despite its small size. I only insure my car in the spring and summer so I only tend to drive it in the warmer weather and have not noticed any heatsoak since I installed the kit. This kit with the dual valve set-up (HKS SSQV and stock BPV) seem to be a perfect combination.

I like the small size also because it isn't in your face and scream "Look at me, I have an intercooler". The red couplers do stand out though but that was my own choice - I bought the red couplers from Turbohoses.com because they went with my color scheme.

It seems to be a good kit but I don't have much to back it up with because I haven't turned up the boost. However, I don't like the price I paid for it and what I had to go through to get the kit. I don't think ES is in business anymore and if you search "Essential Speed" on this board you will see why.

OIC. Thats cool. It looks like it would be great for low boost applications. Wanna sell it?

Mark,

Thanks for the reply a way's back. I don't get out here real frequently, so... Am I correct in thinking that it's up on the jackstands buried under covers and comforters at this point :) ? I'm still bouncing car options around in my head, but will certainly keep your's in mind.

And one last question... Would any of the mods be a negative in winter driving? The only thing I can imagine might be the exposed air cleaner, but even that, I think would be OK (or could go back to stock). I'm sure you cringe at the thought, but this would be my daily driver. Though I only do about 7k/yr, and I do keep my cars pristine, considering.

Thanks again, and hey you got bumped!

No Problem, she's not on jackstands yet and off insurance. I decided to keep her on the road for a few more weeks since it has been really nice here weather wise. I haven't driven it in a week but I'll take it for a spin at least one more time.

I did put down a rug in the garage so her feet stay warm :)

In a few weeks, it will be up on jackstands, wheels off, outside completely cleaned and waxed again, interior completely cleaned, engine bay completely cleaned and under 2 car covers and 5 bed comforters.

To me there are no mods on the car that are a negative for a daily driver. My intake kit isn't a cold air intake so it doesn't sit in the fender well down low. The filter sits right behind the drivers side headlight so there is no danger of causing damage due to water or winter unless you drove into a lake. The Unichip can be used all year around, the FMIC is fine and the suspension only has a few thousand miles on it and I keep anti-seize on the coil threads to keep them from rusting out and smooth adjustability. The only thing I would think about are the wheels/tires. The tires are 35's so there isn't too much rubber in the sidewall so I'm constantly dodging potholes (I've been doing it for 12 years so it's second nature to me). If you do get snow and ice in your area, these wheels and tires would definitely have to be swapped out during those months as the tires are summer tires.

That's about it and I wouldn't feel bad about selling it someone who planned on using it as a daily as long as it was taken care of. To be honest with you, one of the main reasons I want to sell it is because I don't enjoy the car enough. The car deserves to be driven more and I feel someone else will be able to do that. 300-400 miles a year isn't enough for this car and I feel like I neglect it by not driving it.

Whats the current asking price? Mine may be a write off, so I could potentially be in the market.
