GGRRRR...In the shop already

Well, it's official. This is the soonest I've ever had a new car in the shop. Bought new Sep 29. I couldn't see them during the delivery walk-around, but after the tint was put on I could see a TON of scratches on the back hatch glass. At first I thought they were just wrinkles in the tint, but after all the windows were redone b/c of dirt under the tint, they were still there in the same places. The tint guys didn't scratch it and I didn't either. So either one of the prep guys screwed it up (I don't know how though), or it came from the factory like that.

At least my dealership is working with me on it (REALLY surprised me and my wife). My car is the talk of the service dept. LOL. They think the scratches are in between the layers of glass, but won't know for sure until they pull my tint off. I won't know anything for sure until tomorrow or Saturday, but they're not expecting any problems getting the replacement authorized. But at least they gave me a loaner. It just happens to be a haunted Mazda6.

Seriously, there is something wrong with that car. When we first got in it, I couldn't roll down the front passenger window from the driver's master switch. The auto-down on the passenger's door switch didn't work for the same window. Then all of a sudden the driver's master switch started working and a little while later the window rolled itself down...LOL...call Mulder and Scully.

I was expecting a motor blow or something......sucks about the scratched window....but at this point, at least it's just a scratched window *knock on wood*

I have the EXACT same issue and I am willing to bet beers that it was your tint place. I have had my car for one week and before I took it to the tint place, I washed it from top to bottom. Well, the freaking moron who put the tint on the back window put on a tint that was for the wrong car since it left a space for a brake light.

So, I drove around for another week with a tint hole on the back window. I take it back to the same tint place and the same idiot who put the tint on had to remove it and put on the correct size/fit.

Well, I get the car back, go straight home to wash it again and wft!?!? I have 2-3 inch scratches on the back window all along the bottom. There are about a dozen of them. I KNOW they weren't there before and when I took it back to the tint place, they just shrugged and said it wasn't them. They said they only use soft rubber to put the tint on.

I know better than that so I asked if they used a heat gun as well..."yes". Does it have a metal tip? "Yes". Does it have sharp edges so if you touched the glass it would scratch, "Yes, but we don't touch the glass". So now I too am stuck with this crap on my (was) mint new MS3.

Then the guy says that if I would have mentioned it right after it happened, he would have done something to help. I am not a violent guy but I really wanted to slap the douche from this guys face.

FYI, it's Alarms, ETC in Tampa, Florida. These guys are s***.

Just got my car back temporarily while the glass is being shipped to the dealership. The scratches actually go underneath the defroster lines without damaging the defrosters, so it's something that happened at the factory. I didn't realize how bad it was until someone's headlights shone through the glass and I was actually looking for the scratches. It looks like someone buffed the glass with sandpaper.

And for all the haters, just b/c it's not a blown engine doesn't mean it's not a problem. Imagine how you'd feel if this were YOUR car.

I'd feel terrible!

Imagine getting a check engine light due to a failed intake manifold runner control valve weeks after you get your car. Now imagine waiting a month to get parts because everyone had the same issue (CX7s too.) Knock your power output down 30% as a result.

Now imagine driving around for 6-8 months wondering if your motor is going to fall out because the trans mount is over stressed and Mazda was yet to establish a recall.

Scratches on glass doesn't seem so bad now does it?

Everyone, stop being dicks, this guy had his car for a couple days, and he noticed this on his window, big deal to the owner, little to anyone else...

Anyways, good on you for getting your window fixed dude. Glad the dealership was willing to help you out with it.

Actually, anyone speaking towards, AWW this thread is boring, or I thought it was MORE serious than a scratched window.... everyone in general being dicks. If I meant you Swampbutt, I'd say it. lol

well glad there taking care of it....what dealership did you go to?

and make sure you pop into the NV section.

I'm going through Courtesy. It really doesn't matter which one you go to though since they're both owned by the same people. I was surprised at being given a loaner without even having to ask or make a fuss about it, especially considering it's a Mazda and not a BMW or Lexus.

I always had good service with the Henderson Courtesy. The service writer Dustin was always cool with the mods I had.

That was back when I was under warranty...never been back to a dealer for service since then.
