Ive gotten better at driving on snow/ice and I have tried finding tires here in town but I cant seem to find any! places have to special order them for my car. I also talked to one tire dealer and said that my stock tires were fine because the ones he was going to try and sell me are practically the same.

What are some good tires for the snow? Im thinking about buying a winter car for here like a old jeep cherokee or something...

You know you can go to discounttiredirect.com and they will ship your tires for free and they have really good prices thats where i get my tires from!!

I mean.. the stock tires are summer tires... they're not at all made for snow, ice, or even cold... Blizzacks are great snow tires... but I mean.. just putting a good set of all seasons on goes a long way.

No tire is impervious to snow. See:

From our Illinois meet in January. Honda S2k trying to drift in a foot of snow, with Blizzacks.

Yea all season are the way to go and you can get good deals on tires there and you can even select the sizes you want and its free shipping with no tax its great!!

tire rack to expensive

I find it's a darned good idea to check both Tire Rack & Discount Tire Direct... neither one consistently undersells the other.

And just another nod for Blizzaks. I do not need them personally, here in Florida, but my friends who live up North & drive performance vehicles mostly run Blizzaks in the snow.

If your looking for a decent set of all seasons that seem to wear well, I am 8k miles into a set of goodyear eagle GT, wear great, handle pretty good for a/s and still look like new. There is one caveat with them, they are lumpy when cold, it takes a few miles for them to warm up and run smooth. Once warmed up they are smooth as glass. At first I was freaking out thinking the bone heads didn't balance them properly. It's been a LONG time since I had a set of tires do this.

How much do you think sliding your heap into a guardrail will cost?

tirerack is not the only option, he was just stating they are expensive..which they are. i'd go to discounttiredirect.com

free mounting and balancing when you purchase wheels+tires, and FREE shipping. Honestly, tirerack has gotten to the point of being more expensive than the brick and mortar shops around me...not sure how true that is for others but they have gotten spendy for an online shop.

Thanks Eg i see some got what i was saying i was just saying that when i was comparing two of the same tires too each website discounttiredirect was always cheaper plus there is no taxs and its free shipping i wasnt saying to go out a buy cheap tires i was saying he can get a good set on all season tires cheaper at discount rather than at tirerack!!!!

I have Blizzaks I bought second hand from another MS3 owner with 9/32nds tread. They are like glue. I didn't realize how much better they are than all seasons until I drove my parents Corolla with brand new Nokian all seaons. I had to take turns at like 2 because of all the gripless understeer.

The blizzaks I have are wrapped around 17" black steelies. Looks alright actually! Now I'd like to paint my stock rims black...would look sick.
