Getting ready to start building new system in my MP3.

Wondering how much power wire I should get? I'm thinking of 4 gauge Stinger wire, but want to know how much I need. I'm just going to get the wires ran and dynamat the floors while I have the seats out.

I'm still deciding on what size amps to use, but I think I want 2 seperate Hifonics amps. A 4 way and a monoblock for the sub/subs. (Probably a Zues and a Brutus). Haven't decided on one 12" or two 10" yet. Like I said I am still designing, but would like to start running power wire and such. I will definately be mouting the amps in the trunk.

IF the RMS rating exceeds 1000 watts rms you will need 2 4 gugae wires or a 1/0 gugae wire.

I might run two 4 gauge wires, I assume that I would just fuse both up towards the battery, huh? I've been looking for a decent battery terminal that would accomodate that. Would 2 4 gause wires fit through a singe firewall hole easily? Sorry for all the dumb questions, I just don't want to run into any surprises when I get into the install.

Also, anyone ever had any experience with Hifonics subs? I'm pretty sold on their amps, can't really find anyone who's heard the subs before though.

For a story on there amps.
I had a customer mention he had them in his pickm up and he didn't know it but in the winter the sand bags in the back ripped and dumped into his amps. Apparently HE NEVER EVEN KNEW IT!
They just kept pumping even though the boards were submerged in sand.

The Monster cable MBC3 has 2 ring terminal posts for any gauge wire and even a singl post style will take 2 ring terminals. 2 4 gauge wires will fir through the fire walls gromment but wth a little aid from a steady hand and a razor.

I pretty much sold on Hifonics amps. I've been doing a lot of researching and have heard great things on about their stuff. I'm thinking about 2 seperate amps, one which runs 85 watts into 4 channels at 4 ohms, and one that runs 250 watts mono in a 2 ohm load. Do you think that a single 4 gauge wire and distribution block would be enough? I will almost definaetly be installing a 1 farad cap too. All in time.

Get the models of the amps and I can verify the cable needs. although it sounds like a single 4 to two 8 guage wires will be ok.

I'd also ditch the Stinger wire for something more economical.

Wire is wire - there is no difference.

www.knukonceptz.com sells great quality stuff at excellent prices. I've dealt with them twice so far, and shipping is always fast and reasonable.

Well the wire has already been paid for and is being shipped. 30' of 4 gauge, and 20' of 8 gauge, both Stinger. This is for an MP3 and a P5. I know it's a lot, but got a good deal on the 8 gauge. I've noticed that the hifonics amps accept 4 gauge power wire. Here is a link to a good picture of the power input >HERE IS A GOOD SHOT < I was planning on using a distribution block and splitting the 4 gauge to two 8 gauge wires in the trunk. Will this work. By the way, both Hifonics amps have the same type/size power input. Thanks.

That isn't the amp I was planning on getting, just a good picture of the type of inputs. I am looking at the:

ZX6400 - Zeus 4 Channel (85watts x 4 @ 4 ohms)
BX1000D - Brutus Mono (350 x1 @ 4 ohms or 700 x 1 @ 2 ohms)

That's the power rating of the two that I plan on using. Haven't decided on running the sub amp at 2 or 4 ohm.

4 guage from the battery is a must for those amps, 2 guage would be the more accepted size but not completely needed.

I plan on running 4 gauge from the battery, I was wondering if I could use a distribution block in the trunk into 2 8 gauge wires into the amps. Also is there a distribution block that anyone knows of that accepts 1 4 gauge wires, then splits off into 2 4 gauge??? Just curious. Thanks.
