Getting a Mazda 2 this weekend, looking for last minute advice

So, it's all done, although I won't have it until next week some time. Apparently I got the last green 5-speed in my region :)

Curious, what coverage package did you all get? I just went for the most expensive one, my bi-weekly bill was still pretty decent with it on.

Congratulations on your purchase! My dealer put in the 7 year/100K mile extended warranty. I doubt I'll ever be able to use it but meh! Please post pics of your new baby once you get it in!

Congrats. The green really fits the personality of these little cars. You definitely went with the far better choice in transmission. The auto isn't necessarily bad, but it's also not very good and completely robs the engine's power in 2 and 3. The upside to the auto being a low tech (by today's standards) 4-spd is that it will probably be very reliable over the long run. Torque converter style 4-spd boxes for small cars have been around for quite some time and as a result don't have many bugs/issues. Can't say the same for the dual-clutch style compact automatics like in the Fiesta; wouldn't go near one of those due to the problems many owners have had.

Have fun in your new 2, these cars are simple stupid fun, and at the same time easy on the wallet. Can't wait to put some better springs on ours once it gets a little bit older.

It won't be here until the end of the week sometime.
The one thing I didn't look into was the insurance rates on these things... yowza. They are high! :S

Not specifically so, in fact I found the rate of this car was better than a fiesta. Might just be your age/neighbourhood? My civic cost about 80 more a month. (98 sedan)
