Well I've been wanting a daily driver for a while and now I have one on the way. I heard that my uncle had a 1981 RX-7 in storage. I gave him a call and told him I wanted to buy it. He said he'll give it to me!! Now I just have to get it running. Wish me luck!

good luck! do you know what's wrong with it??
I don't think it has any problems per say. But it's been sitting for at least 10 years, maybe more.

Awesome. I actually have to buy my daily driver. My buddy came across a 94 civic hatch and picked it up and was gonna sell it to me for $1200... but he said it would only be good as a project car because the motor is probably gonna go soon. Good luck with your new ride :)

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'm beginning to wonder how much it's gonna cost me to get it going.

That will depend on how it was stored and if it was running when parked.

The fuel system will be gunked up. Drain the tank purge the lines change the fuel filter and clean the carb.

Get a new air cleaner as well.

Change the spark plugs.

(DO THIS FIRST!!)
BUT, before you do that buy a can of Marvel Mystery Oil and an Oil squirt can. Pull both top spark plugs (one in front on ein rear) and spray some MMM in each hole as you bump the starter to work it in. **make sure you pull all the park plug wires before bumping the starter**

Let that sit for a while like 24 hours.

After you have the fuel system cleaned fire her up. She will smoke some but that will go away.

You going to want to check all the belts and hoses (including vacume lines) amd replace any suspicious ones.

Flush the radiator and colling system ( including the heater coil)

Flush the brake lines and fluid as well check your brake system for leaks especially the clipers and/or Drums (if equiped)

You biggest obsticle is going to be the fuel system.

Good Luck and congrats on the free car.

Yeah I'm kinda in a bind as far as money right now. So i don't really have enough to do anything. Much less get this car running.

But it'll still be there when I do have some. So maybe down the road.
