i've got a set of kuhmo ecsta mx and love them. not the best wear rating @ 220 but they are pretty cheap.

I checked out the some Kumhos online they have a good rep. and low price too, though i'm set on the RE960AS Pol Postions..i'll have to go for the cheaper one cause they are quite expensive. FIrestone doesn't carry Kumhos do they?

I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 on the stock rims and they are the worst tire I've ever had on the car (including stock Bridgestones and Fuzion ZRi). The sidewalls are so soft it makes the suspension and steering feel slow and soft.

You must be talking about these from an Auto Crossing standpoint, because on the street, I do not share your thoughts. These tires are better than the stock ones and I have no complaints about the handling and feel of my car. A while back tire rack had a special on a version of these tires for $88, but they were not the same ones that I have. Maybe you had those.

I had a set of Kumho ECSTA MX for awhile. I was happy. The KDW's are better, but you're right about the Kumho's being less expensive.

The one thing I like a LOT better about the KDW is that they have a lip guard to protect your rims.

But anyway! Between those two -- ECSTA ASX. Unless you haven't looked at the ECSTA MX?

Are the MXs better then the ASXs? I think I might have looked at the MXs but the rating was lower then the ASX.
I just have to find out if the Firestone sells Kumho's or not. If they don't then i'll have to find an alternative or wait and get the RE960AS, the thing I also like about those and the ASXs they have a 40K and 30K warrenty that they alst that long if not then you get a certain precentage back, which is great cause for some reasoon i go through tires quite fast for some reason. When i get my new tires they will be my 3rd set (inlcuding the stock tires) and I'm only at 38K miles. So I have bought one set once i was done with my stock ones.

I've heard very good things about the Goodyear F1's but apparently others disagree.

I need new tires as well, my issue is getting ultimate grip because I can't get enough grip. I was thinking Goodyear F1's or Yokohama Pradas mainly because the KDW and Potenzas all seem to have very mixed reviews.

All I can say is that I have ZERO complaints about the tire and got a hell of a deal on them a long time ago. Bought them before I needed them. Even with 23,785 miles on them now, they still grip like new wet or dry, make no noise, and are wearing great. That's all I want and need from a tire.

Just giving my input for the members here, my favorite is the Nokian all season tires, i'm going to try the Vredestein next. anyone try any of these tires, they're not tire brands you can find on Tire Rack.

I ended up getting the Potenza 960AS Pole Positions

Cost me a total of $712.11 Somewhere about there give or take a penny. Damn, i'm hurting my wallet there, that's like 6 weeks of paychecks..

I just got my Goodyear F1 GSD3's on last week. I bought them when they were $88 at Tire Rack and just put them up until I needed them. I wound up with new wheels and my Kuhmo 712's had lost their wet grip, so I felt it was time.

The temps here have hardly climbed out of the 30's for days, so I can't tell for sure how they're going to grip on warm pavement. My guess is they're going to be insane. I finally went balls out on an off ramp tonight and couldn't really find the limit. It was definitely an improvement, even in the cold. I also suspect the sidewalls are a bit softer than the original Potenzas or even the 712's, but I can't say I mind. This tire is not only quieter than what I'm used to, I can tell a noticeable difference in the ride quality now, at least over minor stuff.
