GC coil-overs // chamber plate

What is the main purpose / benefit of chamber plates? Is it a good idea to put a set of GC's on a Mp3 without chamber plates? I have heard good things about lowering springs too - what is the best way to go to lower a Mp3 (for appearence and performance) THANX!

CAMBER.. plates and bolts allow u to adjust the camber that your wheel may sit with after lowering your car. it prevents premature tire wear. well its supposed to.. i donno for sure cus i dont have em -=)
