i wanna smoke my headlights and foglights so i found this rockblocker site and since they dont make covers for our cars I emailed them with regards to a group buy and here is their reply:

Chris,

A group buy sounds like a good idea. Here is the deal. Currently the
colored film is not offered for the Mazda cars. We do have a couple of
options that we can consider.

I have the clear headlight and fog lights kits available.

Normal Price is $59.95 for the set.

I would be willing to offer group buy numbers as follows.

1-2 $59.95 each
3-5 $50.95 each
6-10 $45.95 each
11 or more $40.95 each

Shipping would either be free to one location or $5.00 for each package.

On the color film if we can get a group buy number I can put pressure on
having them made. This made take a couple of weeks, but we can get them
done. My tentative guess on price would be a retail price of $58.95 for the
set.

Prices could possible be as follows along that retail price

3-5 $50.95 EACH
6-10 $45.95 each
11 or more $40.95 each.

The colored lights costs more to manufacturer thus the reason of higher
prices.

There could many people who are interested in just protecting the fog light
only since they are low to the ground and I am not mistaken made of glass.

For those I would be willing to offer these prices.

1-2 $19.95 each
3-5 $17.95 each
6-10 $14.95 each
11 or more $12.95 each.

Shipping would be $4.00 per light.

I probably have sent more information than you were looking for, but I
wanted to let you know that we are more than willing to offer more than one
type of group buy. That would even include the clear bra kits we carry as
well.

Feel your members out and see what they would want. If you have any other
questions please let me know.

Thanks for choosing RockBlocker products

You just want to smoke your fogs? Just do what I did...find a tint shop that sells 3M "Ricochet"...they make it in black tint. I bought 3 feet of it for $12. It's been on there for 8 months and it still looks great.

It's a stick-on vinyl like material...quite thick. They usually sell it in clear and use it to protect cars from rock chips (so it's exactly like that other stuff). The install involved sticking it to the light and trimming around the edges. I think it took 3 minutes total to do both.

I purchased it from Shadow Tinting...but I think you can get it pretty much anywhere. I've actually got enough left to easily do a couple more sets of fog lights...if you come to the meet Tomorrow I'll give it to you.

yea, is the ricochet durable to having rocks hit it or whatever? and how bright are the fogs through the tint? could u use the tint on the headlights too?

check out my post in the protege5 forum, I linked to a company that has precut kits for our cars with a clear rock protection film. Their film has been tested against the average sized rock and can withstand 120mph impact without damage to the underlying paint or headlights/fogs.

That have a couple different kits that will cover your hood and side mirrors, another that covers the headlights fogs and another that does the entire front bumper.

Slug420,

I know we spoke awhile back, but I wanted to give you update on the colored film. I have the fog lights in yellow, smoked and blue ready to go. They are retailing for $19.95 for the set.

The headlights will be available tomorrow so I will get you the price then.

I am willing to offer you a group buy to organize as you want.

5 Sets of fog lights any color for $16.95 plus $4.00 for shipping each set.
10 sets of fog lights any color for $13.95 plus $45.00 for shipping each set.

I posted this directly here so you would see it faster since I cant find your email from before. If you need anything let me know.

Pardon the vehicle in the pic, but I wanted to show you what it looks like in case you havent seen it or someone else hasnt.

The whole idea behind ricochet is to protect lights and paint from rock chips (hence the name).

As far as light level...I wouldn't do it through the tinted stuff. You can tell that the fogs are on, but not from the drivers seat. You'd be driving blind if you did it on the headlights, too. I can't really say how the yellow would work.

Oh...and if the guy from rockblocker.com is viewing this. Fix your website! I've tried it on 3 different WinXP systems, and I get a never ending stream of runtime errors if I try to click on a link. I have to actually KILL it iexplore.exe process to get out of it.
