i read somewhere that no company would make a pillar guages for our cars cuz of the side airbags, does anyone know where the airbags actually come from in the event that they go off??? and are the guages like in this post gonna interfere with those at all??? just wondering because ide like to have some guages there too but wanna find out about the airbags. thanks in advance

i don't know but i have side air bags. i sure hope whoever put those gauges in their car doesn't have side air bags. that could be a huge problem.

j/k is that a new option for the 05s??

did u have an SRS stamp on the top of ur a pillar? of so then u have side airbags. i thought all the hatchs had them (or the 3S)

I have the airbags in my pillars, the are exactly where his gauge cluster is..Id would have to suggest not installing any gauges there if you have the SRS option... The rear pillars also have airbags behind them.. I recently removed the plastic lid behind my seats to pad it due to bass rattling and need to pull the rear pillar mouldings off to do it... It was kinda sketchy removing those moldings with the bags right in my face.

I've been wanting to get gauges like that too....I have an 04' 3s 5-door...they airbags are NOT standard, but ARE an option....I have them in my car and would not recommend anyone w/ that option to do somethin glike this...I was in an accident in my friends Lexus which has similiar airbags and that whole piece pops down...I would think that the airbags would go off anyway as long as the gauges were'nt drilled or anything like that, BUT I'm almost positive it would interfere w/ the deploying of the bags....and when it comes to those things .01 of a second can make all the difference!!!

hmm.... this sucks. i wanted some guages like that too. theres no where else for me to put any guages now because i have the NAV system so i cant put them in the center. anyone got any ideas where to put some additional guages???

I though on top of the guage cluster maybe... I want to put a shift light there

yeah a shift light would be fine there but i feel like guages would be to tall, or too much in the way of where you need to see to drive.
