Hey guys, I was reading my owner's manual today and I noticed it said our engines need gasoline with an octane level of 91 or higher. It also says octane levels 87-90 would be ok, but it recommended 91. I wondering how many of you guys are putting in premium gas in your mp3s.

Thanks. ;)

some one already posted a octane survey. i use 93 always. i also read that in the manual and it also says "Premium Recomended" on my fuel door.

Here in Cali, were stuck with 91 octane. Apparently, there are a few stations through out Cali that still sell higher octane, but I've yet to see one in my area. :(

I use 93 octane. theres a station here that sells 101 and 107 octane.

You're talking about Arco right, I think that was the name of the place. The station closest to me sold 108 octane, but it was leaded fuel.....An absolute no no for modern days cars. In all honsesty for non-turbo'd cars 90-92 is fine. The higher your compression is, the higher octane you should use as far as performance goes. I think that's how it goes. Higher octane resists detonation better. ;)

Hey. Ya'know I scoured the manual when I first got the car and haven't been able to find it. So i usually stuck with mid grade or premium just because I didn't know. Now it's premium or ultra all the way!

What is the compression ratio on an MP3? I don't think it is that high but I may be wrong. If it isn't high, then you are all wasting money, but then again, I would do what the manual said just to be safe.
