Ok the bad egg smell is from the oxygenated fuel they switch too in NJ for winter time(scratch). I was told to upgrade the Fuel from 87oc to 89 to 93(huh), because of the fuel that they use during this time of year, anybody else hear of this?(sad2)

Could be...

Early production Saturn owners were warned by Saturn in a letter not to use BP gas in the winter as it would damage the injectors, due to the formulation changes BP made for the winter months. Jim

HAHAHA I'm still laughing at your crappy fuel!

I run 98 octane all year round! And then sometimes i add a little octane booster to really give it a kick!

You need to read up on octane some ;)

You would learn that Australia doesn't measure gasoline octane the same way the rest of the world does - What is classified as 94 or 95 octane by most of the world would measure 98 octane, using the outdated Aussie measuring system.

(Australia STILL uses the RON [Research Octane Number] system, as did most of the rest of the world 50 years ago, while the rest of the world now uses RON+MON/2 - MON is "Motor Octane Number" and is a measurment system which gives readings a good bit lower than RON, hence the average of the two gives a lower number for the exact same gas as the RON only measuring system)

You would also learn that using octane numbers higher than what the manufacturer recommends for the engine does you no good at all, other than giving you a thinner wallet to sit on ;)

gee...thanks for the heads up. I am going to NJ in 4 weeks. SO this is what i have to look forward too!?

and i thought 93 octane was the best for our cars. I always put 93 in my P5. I also use BP/Amoco all the time. Have yet to experience any issues. I also live in Florida so we dont have that winter gas stuff you mention. Should i not use BP/Amoco while i am on vacation in NJ/NY?
