Gas Cap Holder?

Hate to threadjack, but I'm having a problem even getting the damn gas cap off in the first place. Doesn't seem to thread on and off like usual. I find myself twisting the cap off, and it clicks and clicks but never comes off. I have to twist and pull for what seems like forever, and it eventually will come out. Is there a special technique to this or am I just "special"? (braindead

Hrm... I've heard of people having trouble with this somewhere... it coulda been on a different car or something though. Just take it in to the dealer. They will replace it for ya.

Yeah, I've heard of some Mazda3 and MS3 owners who've had faulty (hard to remove) gas caps that were replaced under warranty.

In addition to the common "bad gas cap" issue, have the dealer check the filler neck. My sticking gas cap was due to an improperly formed filler neck, which was replaced under warranty in no time flat. Amazingly, they even had the part in stock.

Cool, thanks guys, I will definitely do that. I have a couple other questions for the dealer, but I'm going to break it in a bit more first. (at 700 miles now)

Does this happens to you all the time? It happened to me today but it's now working properly. Went out to my car right now and checked again still no proplem. If I do come across this problem again I might have to take her in.

Well, I've only put 2 tanks of gas in, and yes it happened both times. Going to give it a few more tries/fillups before I take it in...

I hope it doesn't happens again. It was a PITA to release the cap just like you described.

Happens to me somtimes, once i feel it stick i screw it back on and try again. i think it really has to do with it being screwed on straight in the first place
