Kid Red said:I've never quite understood why people claim there's no place to hold the gas cap? There are two prongs on the door that you wedge just above the gasket on the gas cap and nudge it onto the inside of the door.
I can snap a pic for those who need to see it properly seated.
Tried it last night and it works great... good looking out.ladygrey said:This totally works! Thanks for the tip.

Kid Red said:No problem. I just assumed this was common knowledge as all of my cars have had this. I wanted to make sure those in this thread knew about it before modding, taping, and spending money when they don't have to.
The issue isn't scratching the paint, it's having gas come in contact with it(ughdance)Antonio DiMarco said:I'm pretty anal myself but the cap is plastic. Simply place it down gently so it doesn't hit the car. The pastic won't scratch unless you put force behind it.

IMO the cord is there so when you're filling up you don't lose or forget about your gas cap. (True story, I once set a non-connected cap on the roof of my car and drove off... sending it bouncing across Main St. Luckily one of the attendants saw it and had it when I returned!)tengoestetempo said:isnt that whys there a rope connected to the cap, so u dont need that holder thing for the cap. i just let mine dangle, lol, (dangle)

Has anyone tried it in the great white north??? At minus 25 or 30 C two way tape seems to have a hard time up here.
Cheers
