I have a 2000 Miata LS with 68K miles, stick, lsd, koni shocks, racing beat springs, panasport 15s.
I know this is probably a tired subject, but I have the gas cap code P0442 tripping the check engine light. Stealership recommended replacing the fuel cap, which I did (genuine Mazda $24), and didn't do anything. Had them reset the code and the CEL went out for about 10 miles, then popped back on. I reset the computer myself, and indeed the light goes out, but then comes back after 10 miles of driving.
Dealer recommended "looking around for the problem," which sounds like throwing money into a black hole. I'm trying to sell the car and the CEL is not exactly a selling point. What should I do? Thanks for any help.
