GRRRRR. My chrome valve caps got STOLEN AGAIN. 3 times in the past 2 weeks, 4 times total. I'm REALLY DAMN PISSED. To top it off, the little $h1th3ad who has been doing it is now letting air out of my tires too. Now he's just going out of his way. Oh, and BTW, I tighten my caps on with a RATCHET, so now he must br bringing a tool to do it with.

I have a REALLY good idea who it is (people have told me), but it's some 11 year old kid. He's REALLY bad though...he breaks into houses, does drugs, etc etc.

I've approached him and his dad before, but the kid is TOTALLY sweet and innocent face to face. But turn away and he's a real peice of TRASH. I talked to his dad...seemed like a nice guy...and said he'd talk to the boy, but if he doesn't find the caps around, there's "nothing he can do" about it.

So there ya have it folks. I don't know what to do. I could get aggressive with the kid next time I see him, but then he may damage my car further (with a key, etc). But I can't let this F#$&*ing punk get away with this. GRRRRR. Anyone know any real tough kids under the age of 18 that will beat his @ss for $? Hehe. Seriously tho...I don't know what else I can do. HELP!

Does he do it as soon as you put them on? Cuz if he did I would definately try to put up some sort of a camara around to catch him in the act. I saw on tv one time where this guy caught someone stealing expensive tools and stuff from this guy. At first he couldn't do anything cuz the guy had a mask on, and then he found out it was his neighbor and good friend! The idiot took the mask off an revealed himself. Just a suggestion though. I really do hope you catch him. Too bad I don't know any kids in your area that would take care of this little punk. Good luck!

Tighten the valve caps on and then brush a dab of super glue / model cement / JB Weld on each one's surface. The little F**k goes to take them again and they won't be leaving his fingers any time soon.

Car in a driveway? Late at night set up four discreet pegs at each corner of the driveway and tie a rectangle of fishing line from peg to peg. When he trips and breaks his nose or twists his ankle those valve caps won't look so desirable next time.

Aim a camera at the car from a discreet location. Record, replay, remit to local authorities.

Sleep in the car's back seat or hide under a blanket in the back. When valve cap boy shows up, open the door, grab the little worm and drag him back to his house. Awaken the parents and threaten legal action to your heart's desire.

Sneak over and release the air from his parent's tires. Tell them and your neighbors you saw thier own kid and his friends do it.

I have a very powerful single pump rifle and I have the sights dialed in perfectly. Too bad you're notin my area or I'd love to help you scare the s*** out of him. If it happens at night, just grab yourself a pellet rifle, set up some sode cans where he can see them and wait. Next time he steps foot near your car, start shooting the soda cans. That should freak him out a bit. I think it would be kinda messed up to shot the kid. That's just me though.

First off I'd say just get a pit bull or a rottie and one of those invisible fences. Second where'd you find a replacement set and how much did it cost? One of mine was stolen so the next day I went out and got the sickest alarm system I could find.....2 prox sensors, fake brain, fake power and ground wires, impact and vibration, and glass break......my car hasn't been touched since.

Dont' replace them for a few weeks... I mean he is only stealing them off you cause he knows it bothers you and s***... Buy some... leave them off.... If it's so important to have them on right now... well put them on and off everytime you leave... yeah maybe it's a pain in the ass... but at least you won't be fork'in out $$$ everytime this little punk comes around.

Yes they are worthless to many... but not you cause you keep replacing the all the time and the kid knows it... dont' put them back on.... If so... I would put some lock tight on the actual thread of the cap, and put some on the cover so it sticks to the valve real good.... get the lock tight for nuts... not super glue... or else no one will ever take those off... LOL

Have you looked into the motion sensing X10 cameras yet? Not too expensive, and may do the trick. It's also a cool toy!
Anyway, have you considered painting the stems chrome? Wouldn't that piss the little bastard off! He thinks he's about to score and it's just paint! HA!
Anyway, I think the fishing line thing is cool too, but make sure he won't be falling into the car and denting it. That'll piss you off even more.

I've thought about the whole camera thing, but the problem is that I live in an apt. I park in the front of the building, and my car is in the FRONT of the building. :-(

Plus it's illegal to set up a trap like that.

If you care this much about the valve caps (I would be pissed as well), you might as well just buy some new ones, sit somewhere discreet and wait for him to do it for a couple of nights. I would do this. Hell, I'd have a few friends come over and drink a few beers while we wait. It would be a good time scaring the crap out of a punk kid .

Dino....you have a LOT of great ideas here.....but the bottom line is....the ONLY way you can make this go away is to catch him in the act and prosecute....the only way this works is if its a PAIN IN THE ASS for the parents too.... you need to catch the little s*** IN THE ACT...detain him...call the police....fill out a report...and make sure the officers know this is NOT the first time....granted you can't PROVE he did it before...but the cops will either take the little s*** to the parents OR have them come and pick him up at their precinct house.....you have got to get the point across that you are not playing a game its serious.

your question about the super glue drying.....NO it won't. HOWEVER, YOU mentioned a good point...its illegal to set up ANY kind of TRAP....YOU could end up in as much or more trouble for doing it...catching him...then HIS parents prosecute YOU for TRAPPING and causeing some harm to their darling child, regardless of the fact that he was in the commision of a crime when it happened.

I've had similar problems with some little brats around our house with previous cars. Luckily, they really like the mp3 and leave it alone.....so far.

But I agree with Sir Nuke. This is going to go on forever, or get worse by him actually doing damage to the car unless you do this right.

At least get a camera. Maybe even a camcorder, stick in the car or something. But you've got to have proof. Remember if he does it at night, the camera has to have a good enough picture to pick him out. Ultimately, getting him on camera, AND catching him personally would be the best thing. Then the cops have him red handed, and video taped proof.

Another thing people don't think of is writing down all of this. Keep track of the dates that you've noticed the valves missing. And keep the reciepts of the new ones bought. It all helps to show a history of criminal activity.

If you ever do catch him, be sure to watch that car of yours even more carefully for the next while afterwards so that someone doesn't seek revenge
