hey guys...i got this email from a few people today...one of which is a ferndale cop. just thought fellow detroit area michiganders might want to know...

Heads Up for what it's worth ~just saw this; Michigan will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 6 main intersections and highways.

I-75 north and south
I-94 (from Ann Arbor to Port Huron)
entire length of I-696
I-275 north and south
M-10 Lodge Fwy
I-96 from Detroit West to M-14

Now, 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work anywhere in the Detroit Metropolitan area, you must take one of there interstates, routes, or parkways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do.

Wear your seat belt, nothing hanging from the rear view mirror, do the speed limit (not a mile over) use cruise control if you have it, no cracks in your windshield, use your turn signals.

yeah, my friend got that on his Contour forum, good thing I dont speed and hardly ever drive that way

I see the ones on 256 and 96 everyday. That's right where I work and I pass both all the time. I have learned where you have to watch out for them. In fact, I have noticed a huge increase of on the the main roads, too.

Schoolcraft in Livonia
Hines Dr. in Livonia
Plymouth Rd. in Livonia
Middlebelt Rd. in Livonia and Westland

The only thing I could see right now is that with this week being Super Bowl week, there should be an increased police presence in and around the Detroit area. Thats just common sense. As for that being real, I doubt it. Just watch on 75, 94, and 96, as those are the most common roads. 275 near the airport might be a hot spot as well, since most people will be flying in early this week.

a couple days ago there were umpteen million cops around lansing, ELPD, meridian police, state troopers, all over the place, not sure exactly what was happening though... it was all in town, i didn't see 1 on the highway (i do a lot of highway driving while i merchandise)...

I haven't seen much yet. I imagine there should probably be a lot more cops out starting tommorrow and as it gets closer to the weekend.

on this past sunday, i watched 3 people get pulled over on my 50-mile trip up 75 to flint. i was unaware that this was an urban legend, but i just kinda figured it make sense with all those people being out and about. and i know they'll be out on sunday night looking for drunk drivers.
