Funny A/C Problem.

I do not speak for the mods however they would probably ask you to stop using all caps. It is annoying.

same happened to me!

Here's what the compressor looks like when the clutch plate falls off. The pulley is still on because it's pressed on (I think) and retained by c-clips.

Here's what it should look like normally.

Here's what the inside surface of my clutch plate looks like. I'm not sure if the lining material is on the plate or pulley side. Note the splined portion in the center that mates with the compressor shaft.

Here's what the outside of the clutch plate looks like.

Interestingly enough, I found a bolt in my collection that fit and put everything back together, metal on metal. It works fine at idle but I wonder if it won't slip at highway speeds on a hot day. We'll find out tomorrow.

Do you know what dimentions/length the screw was?

I've had the identical problem, driving along on a concsultancy and heard somthing rattling when ever i was in gear. stopped and the clutch was trapped at an angle between the aircon compressor and the wheel arch. Managed to nock it down to the tray and get it with my hand. I can see it being totally plausable that it could have hit the belt, come off the tray and rolled down a road like stated above.

I would much rather this be a cheap nut i need than a new compressor i have a Mazda 6 TS2 (2004)

Please help i have 500miles of driving to do next week.

I can't see (and i'm not a macanic) but does the pully have a ridge at the edge to keep the belt on? Therefore it's not amassivly urgent issue? or does it have nothing holding the belt in place?

Just dont want to be going down the motorway and loose all my power stairing!

Regards and thanks
Liam
