fuel pump question?

Some of you may have seen my other post saying I have had a Engine light with codes telling me I was running lean, and after seeing what other people had to say I was pretty sure it was my CAI giving me the troubles. But I have been searching the forums to see if anyone has had a similar problem and I found several people that had the problem and thought it was their CAI but later found out it was their Fuel Pump.

If the problem was my CAI it would just throw the code and show no "physical" problems but when I am idling it seems that my car is having troubles staying running, like it is only getting enough fuel to stay running and thats it, and I have noticed from time to time it does jerk a little bit when I try to accelerate.

Here is my other post if you want to have a look.

I'm wondering if I could possibly be maxing out my fuel pump?
I didn't really think about it because I haven't done too much to the engine yet, but here is my list of Mods.

-PG Turbo Inlet Pipe
-FMIC w/ PG pipes
-Turbo Smart Dual Port BPV/BOV (Set at Full Recirc)
-MazdaSpeed CAI

Did you end up getting the straightener for the CAI? I have been running mine with the straightener for almost 2 years with now problems.

I also run the MSCAI as a short ram..

Next step is to swap the BPV for the stock on to test that its not causing your problems.

Make sure you do not have a leak post MAF, like on your inlet, because it would suck in more air than what is metered and could cause that lean code.

I've had mine for about that long too, and no problems until now... I haven't ordered the straightener yet, want to cover everything first and find what the problem actual is, so I can get a list of what it might be.

I really just want to see if anyone thinks that it could be the fuel pump and what the chances of that being the problem are.

Best way to test that is to find someone with a Dashhawk and see what the fuel PSI is.

Should be a little over 400 at idle and shouldn't fall below 1600psi at WOT.

#1) get the air straightener

#2) Buy/borrow a Dashhawk and log a couple pulls, if you see anything less than 1600psi @ WOT, you need fuel pump internals. I would upgrade them regardless though, it's a worthwhile upgrade. PTP's internal kit goes for ~$350 and is WELL worth it. I've been running them for +20k miles and still consistently see +1800psi @ WOT

Well, I checked fuel pressures they are all fine... Guess I'm ordering the Straightener
