Yesterday morning i fill up 40 ltr of fuel from Chevron after driving it for about 150 Km long distance ... my car start to show Check engine light. At this time the car cannot go more that 3000 rmp.

I stop by one of small town dealership to check what wrong,

Code P0301 #1 missfire

the dealer replace spark plug for me n then reset the system for me..... after driving for 10 min. the same problem come back.
they try new coil n lead but no use.

after 2 hours looking for it.. they think is fuel pump problem. so the open it out n see this

So my question is ... should the dealer cover all the repair cost and replace the fuel pump. I have ask to pay all the cost include labour n parts. So in total i paid more that $900 Cad ...

What should i do?? Get Chevron to pay for it?

check and see if the tank is magnetic at all. I think our tanks are aluminum, thus not magnetic. So it can't be rust if that is the case. If the tank is magnetic, then it's possible. Hopefully you have a telescopic magnet you can stick in the tank to test.

dont think the tank can rust, i think they are made from aluminum . they charged you 900 for telling you it was the fuel pump?

Sorry to hear about that, but man that is some nasty stuff in your gas tank. Could be that they JUST refueled the station (from a gas truck) and all the sediments in the tank got stirred up. And before it had time to settle back down, you pulled up to the gas station for some gas.

So that white flat mesh thing is the fuel filter? Wierd looking...

But I'm pretty sure that the dealer won't pay for that, because it's not a manufacturers defect (unless it's really the rust from the gas tank). And if it's really rust, they can blame that you should have kept the gas tank full most of the time to prevent moisture from accumulating in it. So I would say you need to get to try to get some compensation from Chevron.

Looks like bad gas caused your problem. I agree that Mazda shouldn't warranty this. I didn't know we had Chevron here in Canada! Where are you?
I suggest you go back to the gas station, speak to the manager, take both of these pictures, and your bill from the mazda dealer.
