So you guys know the problems weve been having with my pump. Mine was one of the lucky ones that never seized but it kept stuttering and bucking in low rpms 2000-3000 in all gears. It was really noticeable in the higher gears. Lean codes..all sorts of nonsense with it. We thought it was the ecu, maybe a bad sensor, install issues, you name it...

Well I mailed my mess to Mrlilguy, and within a couple hours it was apart and he had diagosed multiple issues both with my piston and my core.

Long story short.... my pump is working. These things can be done and they can be done easily if youve got the knowhow.

Mrlilguy is planning on a big install day this saturday... he'll be dynoing the pump with a whole slew of other mods including water/meth if I remember correctly.

Should be some exciting news!!!! These pumps are available now.

Im posting this because Mrlilguy broke the rules a few minutes ago and posted a link to his website. I dont want to break the rules so I 'll leave it at that.

I just wanted everybody to know that these things arent as tough to get going as weve all made it out to be. You just need to know how to put them together it seems.

Im stoked.... kinda. My pump is still in Oklahoma:)

Finally.. some pump dyno numbers!

I hope he gets a baseline first...

(headbang)

He will he can get the thing on and off in under 10 minutes flat. He had the pump on and off about 10 times last night:)

Imagine dyno numbers with meth!!

Skinny and unhealthy looking?(puke)

So you're saying the numbers would be .....sick?

I could care less about spraying crap.... it seems like cheating to me. I wonder why more guys havent gone this route though. Why no nos either? Its a dead topic around here.

.

Nvm, it was a joke. You said meth.

Like this hot momma-jamma

Anyway, enough of me messing up this thread. I just cant wait to see results!

yes sir. i picked up the pump from the mailing center yesterday and threw it on my car without even touching it, to experience what randy was speaking of. I called him as I drove and definately felt this crazy bucking. sometimes the car would drive fine, sometimes it would go no where... my favorite part was being stuck on a hill with a minivan behind me, with me and my hazards on revving up the motor like crazy...

moving on, i pulled the pump off, inspected the piston and bore by removing the stainless retainer nut that houses everything. as I examined the seals in the retainer, it was apparent that a seal was torn. i had a new retainer next to me so i replaced it. Pump back on the car, ready to drive, feels okay down the road, heading to autozone, uh oh. car is not drivable. maybe 15mph all the way there, in first gear at the top end. im PISSED off, cause I could've sworn the seal was the problem. it was, and then some...

i get back home, its getting late and im frustrated (only to feel what randy has felt for months). i pull the pump off and go inside. As the TV is going I thought to myself, "lets switch the cores, the internals are fine, the nut/seals are fine, what is going on?" switched the cores, pump back on the car, drives AMAZING - the way its supposed to feel. I went joy riding, a few runs up to the top of 5th gear, car feels spectacular. Go home, completely disassemble the pump and find that the sensor sensor was installed correctly, but the spring and mini retainer over it was upside down, complete installation error from the first time around, no way of getting around that.

these little things cause hell for people. stress levels through the roof, etc. Thankfully it was a simple fix and no seizure resulted from the lack of attention by the installer the first time around.

sorry randy... I'm tired of pulling pumps out, I think I'll just keep yours... (dance)

Testing purposes and what you get. Remember, you pay for quality. Whos got time to screw around with a pump that isnt working correctly. This upgrade is the KEY ingredient for going to the next level. Either, get on the bus or get hit by it. Pretty simple.

Dude Ive got WAYYY over that in my pump.

Yea and its been making you crusty for the last 2 months. Im glad your getting back to normal over there :) Dump your expensive boost controller, i mean standback and you're good to go!

Yes, yes, I'm not knocking anyone, actually if you remember I'm the one who gave the first initial info on the CDFP's for the VW's. I think folks should know what their $$ buys them (as in, what this price includes). Just a kit, installed and shipped back, etc. Further, has the quality control issue been resolved? Or, are these the same pumps that are hit or miss with seizing? Again, not knocking Jon, just would like some clarity as to these pumps suddenly becoming available. If its all good, I'm all over it. ~Mike

Quality control, installation error, the dog ate, or the stars aint aligned.... who cares.

Hes going to put it together and run it on his car. The problem with all these other kits is that they were never run on shop cars before they went out. They were never field tested. we were the guinea pigs and it looks like we all now will have one... but its ridiculous to assume that everybody would continue to have to go through what I did.

Its quite obvious you didnt bother reading the beginning of the thread if this is the question you're asking... (nuts)

Bro... money is not the motivating factor for my car. I bought the standback to check it out and to be....

an expensive boost controller:)

I'll probably hand it down to one of the locals here when a better solution is available.

As far as the pump... Im trying to be controlled with how I look at things like this. I drove Lexus for years and always had the mod bug. Its been fun in some regards to be in the middle of a little controversy and to test out a new part. I just wish Id had it to Mrlilguy a little sooner. My tuner, these boards, the guys at dcr, everybody I know was like wtf. Im glad its fixed.

But its STILL sitting in a college apartment in OK, not on my car. I wanna that power:)

Well, although i never sent you any PMs about it, i figured you knew who to go through if you wanted a working pump. Remember, Jon and I starting the whole fuel pump thread back in August or Sept. The good news is, its fixed and will be in your hands soon brother.

hey everyone, been going back and forth with mrlilguy (jonathan) for the last two weeks about these pumps. they've been driving me crazy and i've been losing sleep about it and how disappointing its been.

its no mystery that jonathan feels we made installation errors causing the pumps to fail. i have no problem with that being part of the public discourse and will not attempt to argue otherwise. my employees do not agree with this assessment but ultimately that does not matter. what matters is getting a working part to a customer and having them be satisfied with the product. when we don't do that, it reflects on us and in the end it reflects on me. my employees do not believe assembly errors were made, but is no longer of any relevance to me or to the matter. after talking with mrlilguy i am convinced he is the better man for this job, not us.

i will not be competing with jonathan on this product. jonathan and i have arranged to sell the pumps through Protege Garage so that he is not saddled with paying a seperate AV fee, paying transaction fees, and so that he can take advantage of the pricing we have secured with Autotech and with Mazda. I am going to make sure he gets the best exposure and pricing possible as well as availability to the parts so that the cost can stay down for the community and lead time can remain as reduced as possible.
