Fuel consumption

Just wanted to known one thing. I aint bitching about fuel consumption or anything I just wanted to know how many miles most of you go on a HALF tank. I usually only get 90-100 miles on 94 octane. I was wondering if that was relatively low even though are power plants are not in any way close to being economical.

when i had the rx-8, i was getting between 100-120 on a half tank. sucks man, i know.

hmm, 100-120 miles is already better than 90-100 miles

EDIT: I am trying to estimate what a turbo might do to fuel consumption

ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, a turbocharger should help fuel economy. But in reality, it's how the car is driven.... so it'll probably make it worse. ;)

if the power level were staying the same then probably.
but like always more power = more fuel. And while the engine will be more efficient at making power, since it is making more power it will still need more fuel.

have you taken the car to the dealer after buying it? I think there is a reflash for the ecu that should help with fuel economy.

i dont know. for some reason, it seemed like whenever i would drive the rx-8 harder, my gas mileage would get better. it was almost as if i got better mileage by driving it between 4-7k RPMs.

Mine averages 16mpg in the city and 22 hwy.

That being said, it's a rotary, people!!! ;)

You calling me a liar?? (boom07)

:p

Sorry for your misfortune. the city milage used to be 18mpg, but it went down after they did all those damn reprograms.

In the last two years, my '8 goes 240-250 per tank, so an average 19 mpg.

"Miles per half tank" is so hard to measure - how you ever going to get it accurate? The RX-8 tank is in two halves, like a saddle over the driveshaft, so you go round a good corner and your level jumps back up to 3/4.....

On M Flash: 100 miles at half tank, 220-230 per tank
On R Flash: 115 miles at half tank, 230-240 per tank

I drive mostly back country roads, to and from work. I WOT 1st and 2nd once or twice per commute.

I've NEVER gotten better than 21.91 mpg - even on long distance drives, and never drive faster than 75mph in a 70 zone...68 mph in a 60 zone.

thats weird because the best i ever got was 21.91 mpg on a trip to and from minnesota. i got 21.91 on both tanks - there and back.

i dunno why the renesis isn't too efficient. i have a turbocharged 12a blow-thru CARB setup and i get 18pmg city/ 22 highway. you guys need to keep your foot out of it. hahaha

well it looks like winter fuel is pwning my mileage, as i've been getting about 1mpg less than what i got during summer/fall... 19mpg...
