FTC Update....

Ok I've been getting a ton of emails from you guys lately on whats going on with the FTC. So heres the update. We do indeed have a running and fully functional FTC, big thanx to 10lbsMocc who graciously trusted us with his car. Here's the catch which has delayed us for the past few months with consumer production. Anytime you mess with engine management you take on a huge liability. Well one of our main stakeholders happens to own a very large law firm and has expressed his concern with liability on the timing end of things. We've been going back and forth between legal disclaimers and production to try and find a happy median as well as making the product as safe as possible for even the beginner user. Currently the best solution we have come up with thus far is to limit timing control to retard only. This doesn't seem to be a problem b/c in all the tuning sessions we've done the safest and most perfomance producing dyno runs have always involved pulling timing at the higher rpms. However, we do realize that some of you guys running bigger turbos and built motors need to be able to advance timing at the lower end to help with turbo lag. So towards the end of this week myself, a few of the lead techs and our legal team are all going to lock ourselves in a room untill we figure out what to do. Choices will be release a timing retard model only, make a iron clad disclaimer and release a full timing control model, or release 2 models one for advance users and one for stock users. As far as dyno charts, i haven't had time to upload them, but I believe we were sitting at 197hp/198tq with an a/f of 11.09 @10psi (These are actual WHP #s and not crank #s as some others like to use)...obviously this is just talk untill i upload the dynos to support this. So wrapping it up I wouldn't mind having some input from the community this product is for, but please limit it to the FTC only. Mods if you wouldn't mind I'd like to keep a close eye on this thread to keep it on subject....OH as I'm sure all of you want to know pricing is looking to be between $425-515

What's the big deal of the legal issues, just making a disclaimer isn't enough? You are selling a tool, the proper use of which is the responsibility of the customer. I don't really see why your stakeholder has a problem with timing. You can lean out your car with just a AFC and probably blow it up that way too.

Anyways, good luck figuring it all out. I'm sure it will sell well.

Yeah, i dont get it either, but then again i dont have a legal team, so .. meh...

looking forward to seeing this unit...

Also

Were those dyno numbers on a bone stock car?

If so those numbers REALLY excite me.

Any more info, like how hard of an install, how many wires need splicing, I assume its about as involved as say the MPI.

Good job!

Pete

This is good news! BTW, are those numbers from a stock MSP, or was it modded besides the FTC?

Thanks for the update!

John, i've been trying to get a response from you. I want to buy the AFC.
Nice news on the FTC btw

s*** I will sell you my AFC for the price of that FTC! That is a good deal if it controls timing.
Write up a formal disclaimer and mail it to the individuals who wish to buy. They can sign and notarize it then ship it back then you are all set!!!! lol what a pain in the ass that would be. Good luck finding your solution.

(rockon) yes sir I`m ready to get one.....I`ve been waiting for the ftc.....thanx John. (rockon) (rockon)

Sounds to good to be true....i am guessing this allows us to run stock 10 psi with no modifications? I am just curious, what are the side affects with long term use. If it has the performance feel but a solid factory feel (with no knocking) you have another buyer.....

it allows you to boost higher safer, but you must have the mods to support it. I would say no to 10psi. I already have EMS and only run 8-9.

(group)DSMconvert> Any word on the release of the FTC. Please keep us informed. Thanx.OT. (group)

Release the full timing control unit. That is what the market is looking for from tuners. Its a valid concern but virtually every other performance aftermarket parts maker addresses the issue of liability by providing a disclaimer in their warranty statement. Finalize the pricing and get it out to us!
