Fs-de swap guide

Is there a swap guide on swapping a fsde into a msp? My brothers msp is basically blown and we are trying to get back on the road as soon as possible. I've been reading that the 2000 and higher 626 motor is basically a swap in. My questions are what are the differences between the old fs (say 98-2000) or what would it take to make that msp compatible? Also what is the engine code of the 2000+ engine? Is it fs9? I know this sounds like a noob question but I have searched the forum first before asking this question. Answers and links would be awesome.

I'm trying to figure out whether this engine is the one that swaps right into the msp without any swapping of cranks. This engine is the coil on plug type

Looks like an FS-ZE. It has higher compression and would not be a good choice for the MSP.

Can anyone confirm this or point me to a jdm fsde?

A jdm fsde would be an fs-ze. And you will need to swap the crank pulley with a usdm one if you use the ze
