FS-DE head gasket, is it MLS?

Does anyone know if our head gaskets are MLS (multi layer shim) gaskets? I hear they need a much finer surfacing job to have them seat properly.

Yes they are and would need the head resurfaced.
 
shiat. i hope they are doing everything right for my piston ring job (20 hours labor)

new headset (aka head gasket??)
pistons
rod bearings

for those with the workshop manual (threadjack part 2), when you're putting the head bolts back in, it says tighten then to whatever torque specs, then am i reading it correctly when it says turn them a further 90 degrees each then a further 90 degrees again? i didnt do this when i installed my head as i thought it was strange, but just like to get some other interpretations

pdh - i never read though your problems, but what you wrote sounds correct....they should have to bore the cylinder 0.25mm and put new pistons in to get an as new engine. by the way, you'll be getting a massive 12cc increase in engine size if they put 0.25mm bigger pistons in... (yippy)
