I just placed my order for the Corksport CBE; I also want to get an ATP catted downpipe, but I'm way scared it'll be way too loud & spew smoke. You have the exact same setup I want (incl the resonator), so I'm VERY curious to know how your car sounds (loudness, mainly from outside the car . . . possible clip maybe???) and if it smokes, how much?
Two other questions . . .
- first, is your DP catted?
- second, what/whose resonator did you use to weld into your Corksport exhaust?

too loud for the street guaranteed!! my CS alone is pretty close to NOT being street legal.. I dont wanna crush your dreams.. but, even the guy at corksport told me theres some complaints on volume thats why they made the resonator/test pipe.. which I also have and it helps a bit.. but, a DP/CS is just gonna be way too loud.. IMO... but, I have NOT run both yet.. so I cant honestly say.. and little more smoke i had to switch to 5/40 oil.. that helped a bit too.. but, i was smokin before.. so??

I don't think a DP will cause you to smoke. It will only uncover a problem that is already there. Like removing a bandaid doesn't cause there to be blood. It just covers it up.
Some say that the aftermarket DP causes less pressure on the seals which can cause them to leak but I think thats a load of bologna.

well out of 20 guys I know who went DP on the DISI engine.. 20 got burning oil much worse than before.. so its not really up for discussion these cars ALL burn oil.. but, Im just here to sell a set of mufflers not debate the car itself.. we have tech pages for that.. so any more is just a waste of my time.. my car burns oil.. it always did..
Maybe its not more burning oil but, its More of the obvious tell tale smoke?? and please save your technical debate for the tech pages.. (poke) your wasting both of our times on a pointless debate, im not trying to have with you.. theres lots of bored guys that will take you on, on this point.. so head over the engine and drive train section, and debate away.. this is just a part for sale and your crashing my thread.. if you dont wanna buy this??

look.. every INTAKE/EXHAUST mod so far has increased the burning of oil for me.. but, you seemed to be starting a debate, I just cant answer for?? about existing oil leaks etc.. and I dont have time to enter into this.. It really seemed like youre just starting some kind of argument?? sorry if I was wrong.. but, That WAS textbook thread crashing..

well the issue is related to the amount of back pressure on the seals and crankcase vac... at idle there is pressure on the turbo oil feed, and pressure on against the turbo oil drain, which leads the oil out of the path of least resistance... the crappy journal bearings. this is masked with the stock cats..
Ok my last post here. Mark were cool. It was just a misunderstanding. I don't think you realized my initial post wasn't addressed to you. It was meant to be a 1 time post to ease the conscience of "Youngereverday" who was thinking he would run into trouble if he got a downpipe. But I was curious when you said you knew 20 guys who all burned more oil. Found it hard to believe all 20 started smoking because thats contrary to what most research in these forums states.
And Worbit . . . thats annoying. How do you possibly know how much research I have or haven't done? I asked ONE question addressed to Mark in this thread that was completely seperate from any technical aspect.

look were all good.. I was just being cranky cuz I though this was going nowhere.. theres lots of issues with these cars.. and you were just asking a question.. I just felt it was the wrong place for the question.. other than that.. were cool, and the question is a fair one.. but, it makes a point I cant answer for.. on each car with different mods youll get diff results.. and theres too many options and things to cover.. so were cool.. and the question is a fair one.. and yeah out here on our local forum mocc, all the modded guys have the same smoking and burning oil issue.. some more, some less.. the only guys that dont smoke are pretty close to stock..

I think all the BS helped!! I gotta a deposit for these bad boys just now!! Ill be pulling these later today or tomorrow.. but, these are on hold for now.. pending more pix for the buyers satisfaction.. and please let me know what pix you want?? I assume you just wanna pic of all the parts.. its 2 mufflers and one shaft.. it really does look exactly the same as the corksport picture on this forum.. I dont beat up my stuff..
