It does both. One of the best upgrades you can do to a Protege, can't believe they didn't include these from the factory.

Sold. . . To me! It was a rainy day delivering subs today, but one of those rainy days where it wasn't heavy enough for the "1" setting, and it was too heavy for the intermittent setting. I can't wait to get these items in my car. It's absurd that the P5 didn't come with it in the first place.

Was this an '03 item? (I have an '02) Or is is from a non-US market model?

Exactly why I love mine sooooo much and feel the same as to why it wasn't a standard item. Not offered on US models at all but a big thanks to the guy who tried this first and put the info out there.

Corksport does sell them but for sedans only so us hatchowners would lose the rear wiper functions.

For those of you who might miss out on the wiper stalk, you can look for them on eBay and salvage yards (car-part.com) from 03 Mazda Tributes or 03 Ford Escapes. It's the same stalk.

And yes the Corksport one is for sedans only and doesn't have the rear wiper function, I think it's from EDM 626's or something like that.
