Mazda Protege5
For Sale: My 2002 Protege5 in Black, with only 51,600 miles

  • Factory options: ABS, side airbags, moonroof, roofrack
  • Extras: TWM shortshift kit with shifter; Polk Tweeters, front & rear, Clarion Stereo DUZ385SAT w/ true I-Pod connector in the glovebox; Bazooka EL-Series Bass Tube; Light tints; Roofrack delete caps;
  • For security: Medeco Hood Lock and Clifford Alarm System
The previous owner was the original owner (Carfax confirmed), and he took care of the car (though he was disorganized-no service records). Clear title in my name. I bought it in December of 2007 with about 42K miles, and have only had to change the oil, 2 stabilizer bar links in front, coolant flush, and alignment.

Runs nicely, strong clutch, cold A/C. No accidents or dents, though you may see two scuffs on top of the rear bumper where I stupidly tried to haul a wheelbarrel over the summer. Passed NJ State Inspection through Dec. 2009. My mechanic told me about 1 year ago that the front struts had a slight leak. He told me not to worry about it as it was minor, and I have not seen any degradation in the ride. Since then, he has not rung any alarm bells, though he did say it would need front brakes soon.

Serious buyers only, asking $7500. If you're in the tri-state NY/NJ/CT area, you can come for a test-ride, though you better know how to drive stick! Questions? Ask away, and thanks for looking!

First of all, cool photoshop job on the car. Pixar should give you a call for Cars 2. Anyway, my commute changed, and I want an automatic. Yeah, I know, I'm a p***y, but after years of wanting to drive a 5-speed while living in the city, I did it, it was fun, but there are times when I would like to just put it in drive and go. That plus I recently became a Principal of an elementary school, so it wouldn't hurt to have a ride with a little more prestige. Sorry guys, it's true, but this car was, and still is a blast to drive!

D, hope the MSP rims are treating you well!

Luis

Thanks, although I can't take credit for the photoshop. MSPM1chele did it for me :)

Congrads, you became Principal? I think you were an assistant when I saw you. Yeah I feel you on getting an auto for the city, I would do the same.

Yes, the MSP rims are much appreciated. The one wheel that was scratched a bit, the threads for the center cap were stripped so I have to buy a helicoil kit to rethread them. I love the wheels, heres a pic of them if you haven't seen them yet.

Anyways thanks again. Good luck with the sale!

Do you have this listed on ebay as well? I added it to my watch list for kicks. It's just what I'm looking for, but I have to unload my Jeep first. Bad timing.

Wish you the best on the sale. Nice car.

Yep, it's on Ebay, but who knows, maybe it could still be available when you're ready as I'm in no rush. If it sells, great; if not, I can be patient. All I know is that what you see on sites like Autotrader is unbelievable. I guess the P5's resale value is pretty good, but some of the cars have over 50K more miles, and are priced some 1-2K over mine. Some of those look like they'll never sell.

Unfortunately it's a tough market right now, I would try to hold out while you can cause you might have to take a big price cut to sell it now and then you'll regret it later (know a couple of people in that situation).
