Is it possible to replace the front sway bar on the Protege5 without removing the entire front suspension. Under the impression the entire cross brace has to dropped. Can this not be done at home without a hoist and just jack stands?

Thanks

if memory serves me I don't think there is an easy way to replace the front strut bar on our cars. Do a search on the forums. I think you have to either drop the subframe or remove the steering column or something terrible like that...

ok nm I did the search for you. look at this

You can replace the front sway bar without removing all the suspension but you need a hoist to do it . You need to lower the front cross member a couple of inches to get at the bolts that hold the bushing on . then you have to wiggle the sway bar out ,you install the new one the same way . It isnt easy but it can be done

Ah was hoping for a much easier solution, thank you, it far more involved than expected. Do I have all your permission to kick the designer in the nuts, lol.

Start kicking ,I already did . It would have been better if Mazda mounted the front bar from the front making it accessable for swaps .

The MSP swaybar project is always on my back burner. If it gets done, it will do so at the dealership for some $500 in labor.

Damn it.
