I've seen alot of pics of Mazda 3 front calipers (which are puny) so I just painted mine and thought I'd share what it looks like in red.

Looks good did you do the paint or spray on ? I painted mine blue but the brake dust is accumulating on top :(.

I used the G2 kit.....I was hesitant on doing it because the front caliper is sooo big....I bought the kit like 3 months ago....so I said **** it....if I don't like it I can always go back to black......but I think I like it....

It only took me about 2 hrs......and most of that time was just between coats ad waiting for it to dry. Very easy!!!!! No mess and no over spray since you paint it on with a brush....nice and glossy, we'll see how long they stay that way......over all I am happy with it.(iagree)

I also used the G2 kit to paint the calipers on my MINI. Yours are looking quite sharp. Thinking I'll be doing something similar to the new MS3 before too long. Cheap & easy mod.

Biggest problem for most people- they don't clean the calipers well enough. Invest in a can or two of brake cleaner & a few hard bristled scrub brushes. Clean those calipers like there's no tomorrow or the paint will start to flake off after a few months.

You can get the paint off super easy if you dont like it anyway. Use a little laquer thinner (hope i didnt mispell that too bad) and that stuff will come flying off. I actually clean my calipers with laquer with the paint on. I just brush it very gently / quickly and all of the brake s*** comes right off. If you press too hard the paint will come off too. I have a steam cleaner too but it takes a very long time to clean with.

i was thinking of doing this this weekend... I was going to ask some friends to help just for time & equipement sake. The G2 Kit says don't drive for 24 hours after ... did you find that to be necessary?

Thanks

I painted mine and let it sit overnight. Letting it sit overnight is your best option but if you had to drive I would say let it dry for at least 2 - 3 hours. If you use the paint on kit (instead of spray) it shouldnt take you too long. All you really have to do is lift the car and clean the calipers. I had to mask everything off which took a while. Also I only had 2 jackstands so I could only do 2 at a time.

I painted mine about 2pm in the afternoon....(Had to be leaving for work by 6am next day)....I just used a fan to dry them faster.....I'd paint one, put the fan on it....paint the next, move the fan and so on......I put 2 coats on this way. I put my wheels back on around 8pm.....my car sat overnight and I drove to work the next day......paint still looking good!!! No problems. G2 is the way to go.....no worry about spraying all over the place with a can and looks really good.

I'd recommend it!!!

paint on seems handy but I only found that type in red. EVERYONE and their mother paints theirs red so I wanted to be different. Did them blue but took me a while to mask everything off thanks to the overspray. I guess you could always spray it into a cup or something and paint it on . . . not sure if that will work though

Weird....my mother doesn't have red brake calipers.....MMmmmm...strange.

Do you have any full shots of your car with those wheels on? I was thinking about getting the same wheels for mine and wondered how they look on the Black Mica.

I painted mine about 2 months ago, still no peeling, I used some kit i picked up from auto zone can't remember the name.

+1 for the G2 kit. Includes everything you need, even the cleaner.
I mixed only half the kit and was able to apply three coats. Much easier that spray, as you can apply where you want and no over spray. I even left a couple places clean for contrast.

I've been tryin' to share what's left for a few weeks now, in case anyone local is interested.

I got the G2 kit online in green for my MINI. There were 6-8 colors available. I also wanted to avoid the stereotypical red, which didn't really go with my MINI's colors anyhow. On my MS3, however, I think Red would look sharp. (Metro Grey)

I was also just careful/patient with the brush & did not need to mask anything. However, due to living in Florida with 1 million percent humidity, I found that even 24 hours was not long enough drying time- I scraped some paint off when replacing the retainer clips the next day. So yeah, take humidity into account when guessing your drying times.

Yeah you dont need to mask with the painton kind. Didnt know there were more colors of that kit online. In december when I get time off im going to repaint mine yellow. Need some new rims that arent so bulky so the calipers can show through :).
