Front License Plate

2001 MP3
My 30 day tempoary tag is about to run up, and that means I need to get regular Lincense plates. Living in Ohio this sucks, because I have to have one on the front of the car. Seeing how I bought my MP3 in Georgia, it doesn't have a stock License plate holder installed on the front. There are just two dimples where the holes are supposed to be. Are there any ways of rigging a license plate holder to the front of the car without having to drill holes, or am I forced to take it to a Mazda dealer and have them do it. I know that I'm not comfortable doing it myself. I going to hate covering up that front grill. :(

Thanks

if you MUST run a front plate...like I do here in texas....then you really don't have much of an option...for you REALLY don't want to attach the plate to the grill itself....that would block cooling air to the radiator and A/C condenser ...... sorry...not what you wanted to hear....but that is about all you can do.

**** Them

I have to run a front here in Mass. do I? NO WAY. Most Cops dont care around here. there is a couple of towns that are uptight about it so i just toss my plate on my dash. I would rather take the fine than put one on.:p

The only cops that care in MONTANA are the Highway Patrol and that is just when you get caught speeding. your supposed to have one but the city cops could care less so I'm leaving mine off.

I have voted not to have a front plate. The holder sits next to the subwoofer in the trunk still in the plastic bag from Mazda.

The license plate is under the passenger seat.

How's the speed limit up there?

NC doesn't require a front license plate but my car came with a dealer plate on the front :(

Vitamin, I live up by Cleveland, and I don't have a front plate on my car... I have it propped in the lower right corner of my windshield. IMO a front plate really detracts from the aggressive styling of the front bumper. I jammed a rubber door stop behind the plate to keep it from vibrating, lol- I suppose I could be a little more creative, but... Anyway, I have had my MP3 since August and I have never even been stopped- that's about 12,000 miles of driving. The choice is up to you though, good luck!

The speed limit in MONTANA is 75 but on these wide open spaces and long interstates there are only like 300 highway patrol in the whole state. And if you actually go 75 you get ran over by everybody including semis and cop cars. It's insane but fun to tuck right in behind a cop car and follow. HeHe.

Linuxracer....the speed limit signs on the interstates USE TO read "daytime speed limit: REASONABLE AND PRUDENT" with a NIGHTTIME speed limit of 55....the first time I ever saw this I could hardly beleieve it...I had HEARD about it...but never seen it....one year on vacation we went through Montana and somewhere in my stuff I have a picture of one of the signs...it was cool...HOWEVER....there were big billboards that you would see now and then with a state trooper on them point his finger and the caption read "There IS a LIMIT".....none the less...its pretty wide open....and you can let your foot be your guide!!

but from what MazdaMP3Man just posted they may have changed all that...and posted actual speeds. :{(

AND unless they changed something since the last time I was there....and correct me if I am wrong now MazdaMP3Man, if you get pulled over in Montana for speeding on an INTERSTATE...the fine is only $10!!!!! GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ WHAT A DEAL!!!!

10 bucks! s*** I got stopped doing just 12 kms over the speed limit, and I gotta ticket for 55 cdn!

12kms over!......god damn @#$ #@$@#$@#$ anal son of a !@#$!@$! cop. I was drivin a 2000 Civic at the time. I guess the jailbird red color did it.

$10, I wish. Get a ticket in Indiana for speeding, ANYWHERE, and it's a minimum $125. They're not screwing around out here. Pays to take your speed to a track. Thank God Indiana has more race tracks than any other state!

Hey, I live in Ohio and I've got my front plate suction-cupped to my winshiled from the inside. Looks a lot better than putting it on the front. Let me know how it works out.

They changed the speed limit a few years ago or so. It was REASONABLE AND PRUDENT but the loals usually knew better. Then we got all of these exotics come through Autobahn style. That was cool but it caused a lot of accidents. The funny thing is that there were less accidents with the R&P than the 75 speed. For a while the ticket was 10 bones for every mile over. I don't know what it is now like I said its fun to follow the speeding cops.

Yeah I really don't think it would be only 10 bucks regardless of speed or it wouldn't even be worth the officers time to pull you over.....the whole point of speeding tickets is to make some extra money afterall :)
