Front-End Wander, Launch Solutions

Hi,

MS3 owner here. Will coilovers help improve front-end wander? What can be done to help stick the wheels at launch to reduce spinning?

Thanks.

A new rear motor mount will help and maybe some wider front tires. The mount will help with the wheel hop on launch.

SU or AWR or PG ... SU and AWR are available now. PG i think will release there's within the next week or two.

price ranges from $80-$120

+1 for supporting the AWR mount. I got mine a couple months ago and really didn't think I would notice any difference. Soon as it was in the change was drastic. I can't remember the last time I experienced wheel hop. Shifting is a lot smoother now since the engine doesn't jump when getting on and off throttle. I would recommend this mod even before you get a CAI I love it so much.

$89.99 at Protege Garage

To the OP: Tire pressure is important for a good launch. I don't really launch well and don't know what tire pressure is good. Coilovers could be tuned to keep the car weight over the front end better and help with launch.

Best thing you can do is turn traction control off and get good at throttle control and hold on tight to the wheel so it doesn't pull you off track (burnout)

Launch 2500 rpm stay in vac until 4500 rpm then get on boost hard until 6000 rpm then get into second but keep throttle open about an inch while shifting. That is how I do it but then I have to watch out for cones :(

i looked on that site and there is an option for dif stiffness.. is there one you recomend over the other.. or is there a huge dif between them ... one if 70 and the other is 88... which one did you go with?

I got the 70 and it stopped the wheel hop and there is not much vibration.I kinda wish I would of went with the 80 tho just to help me get it into 3rd gear better.

70 is good you get some engine shake in the steering wheel but not anything too bad. Don't know how bad it is with 88.
