From ashtray to ipod dock.

So i did this mod when i first got my car (2002 Protege 5), but just finally took some pictures of everything tonight while i put on a new coat of paint.

So on to the dock. Its a modded 2nd gen nano dock mounted into the ashtray since i dont smoke.


I have a hardwired ipod charger going to the back, and then 3.5mm aux cord going from dock to the back of my HU. Works great. Only downsides are that left cupholder is kind of cramped and (not that big of a deal) is that you almost always have to take the ipod out to change songs, other then hitting next and forward track buttons. When the ipod is out you can still close the ashtray like nothing is there.

I ran my wire fro mthe deck, to my armrest, and drilled a little hole to get the cord through. I just leave it on random and throw it in my armrest.

It would figure that the DAY after i completely finish this mod... my ipod dies.

Ridiculous. So ya, i had the replacement warranty at best buy, but they only have the new nanos now. So i have to mod this guy so the new choad ipod fits in it, they dont even have any jogging armbands either... grrrr so angry.

I bet you could work something out with that pocket under the HU. A centered click in mount would cool.
