Fricken Started Smokin Today...

Ok, im sitting there in front of Best Buy idling and sure as s***, white smoke begins to pour out of the pipe. I wasnt idling more than 15 minutes. First time ive seen this.. Soon as i got back on the road and accelerated, it went away and hasnt come back.

i guess so. i didnt want to have to deal with mazda. I just wanted people to stop calling the fire dept every time they saw my car at idle. That and i wanted more power then the stocker could offer.

It definately was noticeable.. but it went away in no time. When did yours smoke, all the time? Only at lights, etc?
 
To many bodies stacked everywhere, i would have had to jumped out the front windows and i still would of hit someone.

Rumor has is that Hitachi-Warner has released a batch of defective turbos which were equipped on some MS3's:

Check near bottom of pg 3 specifically. Causing some guys to smoke like bastards, especially with hi-flow/no cats to diguise the bad seals.
 
I work at Best Buy and man holidays suck haha... I think its strange that it smoked at idle... versus being under load. Did you drive it hard before gettin to best buy ?
 
hhmm...i can't really tell the difference if it's the "white smoke" coming out, or if the regular smoke is coming out. Right now it's 30 degrees or so, whenever i start my car, i see smoke come out,...figures it's from the cold whether ? If i remember correctly, in the summer time, it's a "barely noticable smoke" coming out for a good 2-3 mins.

If it's the turbo problem , does it have to smoke for more than 10 mins ? even if ur driving ???? ans please :)...
 
Look at the consistancy of the smoke. if you see any blue in it, and if it doesn't dissopate like regular steam, you may have smoke. Steam doesn't linger, it dissopates pretty quick.

It shouldn't smoke if you are driving, then again, it depends on how severe your oil leak is. So far its only been noticed while idling. After your engine has reached operating temps and its not 30* out, you should have no smoke what so ever...idle nor cruising.

Keep an eye on it...

BTW, the morning smoke or steam you get in the morning when you first start your car is less dense (thicker) and oil smoke... Oil smoke is much thicker and lasts a lot longer.
 
An easy way to tell what your smoke is would be to park a few feet from a solid wall. With your door open rev the snot out of it a few times and if the smoke floods back in your door and stinks like hell you are probably having some seeping oil issues. The cold start exhaust condensation shouldn't make it back that far towards you.

No, i couldnt drive it hard because there was a line into the mall... so she had plenty of cool down time before stopping.
