I'm trying to replace my bulbs in my rear tail lights but they seem like a pain to get off. I unscrewed the 3 nuts but when i try pulling them out, there are some plastic pins or little snaps that still hold it on. I dont wanna break them off but i cant seem to unsnap them. I've searched how to's but there nothing explaining. Any tips??

Are you talking about getting access TO the bulbs? Because I just went out and looked, and it does look like a pita to get to the bulbs. But I think once you get to them, you just push in on the plug, rotate a half turn counter-clockwise, and it will come right out.

I just did this earlier this week. You are trying to get the whole tail light assembly out so you can change the bulb, right? The three nuts come off of the back, but it still is stuck there. You actually just have to pull it out at this point. There is a little snap in the upper outside corner of the light. If you just grab the light on the outside edge and pull, it should come out. It took my like two hours to change the first bulb and 3 minutes to change the second one. I was afraid that I would break the piece that is holding it, but it just snaps out...

Yeah, what he said .. Like so many other pieces on the car, it always feels like you're gonna snap it in half -- when in reality, if you just give it a decent tug, it just pops right out, no harm done.

You've got to be shitting me....you have to remove the whole assembly just to change out the bulbs?! No ******* way!!!?

The entire tail light has to be pulled out, yeah. But it's really not that difficult, I must've done it at least 239487 times.

waaa, waaaa

its not that hard. try changing anything on newer civics, everything is a pain in the ******* ass with that car.

hehe!

Ok, I know this is a 3 months old thread, but is there any type of sealant around the tail lights housing?

i believe the assenbly is sealed so water can't come in, if you refer sealant between the assembly and the car, no there is not sealant in there

once i removed my tail lights, removal was easy, the installation was the difficult part, the stupid assembly wouldn't sit well on the car

Yes, I meant sealant between the light and the car. Thanks!
