Forged Piston Info

Haha.... it NEVER goes away. You will always hear a slight chatter with these because they were not designed to be quiet. Very low silicone content. If you are worried about noise, I would go with Wiseco, or SRP pistons.

The pistons are noisiest on cold startup. After they warm up, the loud diesel sound turns to a low chatter.

One way to combat this is to get your pistons coated on the skirts with a Poly Moly coating from Swain Tech. This would make them quiet. While you're at it, you may as well get your piston top heat coated to reduce cylinder temps.

How much does the skirt coating cost?

does anyone have a PN or reference # for wiseco pistons? There is a local dealer here in Toronto that also does coatings (Same as swaintech). I would like to try and see what type of price I can get locally.

Apparently Juan at HiBoost is taking stock pistons and just lowering the compression and ceramic coating the tops of them, anyone have any more info on this? ... .Juan?

more than that, he told me he was trying to use the pauter rods on stock pistons.

see i'm not 100% sure about aluminium rods not good for daily use...i mean fair enough a race car you ditch them after a season, but in the nascars you're talking what 800hp engines running hard 70% of the time???

i would think in a daily driven car with up to 400hp it wouldnt be much of an issue....but then again i could be wrong. it would be really good to find out more info on forged aluminium rods.....but either way, the use of 7075-T6 forged pistons looks to me to be the best way to go...

A large number of Nascar, Bush, etc motors run Oliver rods.

Aluminum rods are not ideal for street use. They are very BULKY.Blown Alcohol motors run them do to the large amount of CFM and boost they push.Aluminum rods expand 3 times as much as a quality forged rod.

i now know what pat means by piston noise. I have the same noise now that my JE's are in and my motor is running again. Almost makes me thing that my rod is moving around, but i guess it is ok, since everyone else says the diesl like sound is normal.

this noise is gonna bother me... Other option is to buy the othere style JE pistons, but they arent as strong..

Id say get them coated for sure. I dont want a diesel. :(

Hahaha!! Welcome to the world of JE PISTONS!! (laugh) You will get used to it.

Yeah, they are called "SRP" pistons, but made by the same company JE.
i wonder how these in 8.5:1 would hold up against 20psi or so.(uhm)

yes hi to all of you that have a grounding kit do u knwo where i can get instructions on how to install mine and or pictures so i havea good idea where all teh connectors go for liek teh transmission and all that? please PM me

Woohoo!!! Three cheers for piston slap!!! Hehehe! Yeah nothing like the glorious sound of a diesel and the looks from people in parking lots when you start up your car and begin to drive away....... that WTF!? look. Gotta love it!

the piston slap is gonna bother me.. i hope coating them helps a little. I love how my car runs and sounds now:(

How much did you guys pay for your pistons and other neccessary parts?
Our C-P made pistons start at $545.00 per set. They are complete with pins, locks, and rings. We also have a few options on how we have them made. They do not make alot of slapping noise like most pistons do.

Thanks again

Later..................Nick

Cool thanks Nick- I will be looking at these in about 3 months to purchase, what about forged rods? And I would be looking for a high compression setup for N/A..
