Forge Wastegate Actuator adjustment question

Soon, I'll be replacing the stock actuator with one from Forge. The Forge actuator I bought is adjustable from ~ 6-10 PSI. How do I make adjustments on it though?

There is a female hex bolt I see on the actuator. Is that it? If so, which way (turning it) gives more boost and which way gives less?

Or do I adjust boost by the screw on the "arm" (for lack of a better word) that attaches to the wastegate?

The adjustment happens via the screw on the arm.

Although, if my memory serves me correctly I had to have the arm pushed all the way out to get it to fit. The next adjustment you can do is by putting different springs on it.

FWIW, my actuator hits 5-6 psi.

I take it one has to take the unit apart to replace the spring?

Yes, I've never done it but it seems as though it is a simple task that can be done while the unit is still mounted to the car. Its just a series of hex bolts on the head of the unit that need to be loosened.

EDIT: it looks like clearance while on the car may be a bit difficult, because of the coolant lines right there, but the six or so hex bolts on the top are what hold the spring in.

Cool.

It's all beginning to make sense now. By shortening the length of the arm, you put more load on the spring ("Pre-load" it even before there is any boost pressure to put load on it). At least it's how I understand it now. More pressure is now required to put more (more than the pre-load) load on the spring. Actuator responds later = higher boost before wastegate opens

thanks
