Forge BPV Review

With help from laloosh and ill_eagle94, I installed the bpv this morning in about 10 minutes ('cuz my rottie kept running away with my tools).

I was surprised by how easy it was to remove the hoses from the stock bpv. I had a heck of a time pulling off the accordion hose during the Cobb intake installation.

The drive to work this morning was fun. Almost wanted to keep on driving past the park 'n ride. And, yes, I do hear what someone described as the sound of ball peen hammers. But, as a part-time swordsmith, I love the sound even more. It's like being in my smithy.

As for performance, my butt dyno is very stoked. I highly recommend the Forge bpv, especially because the quality and fit are excellent. Just pick what finish you like and install. I forgot to mention, I used the blue spring instead of the yellow. Hope this review helps anyone who is on the fence. Cheers.

Hows that do for ya? Pay well at all and get a ton of customers?

I'm still pretty torn 'tween the CP-E/HKS kit and the Forge piece, but it looks like the Forge is pretty popular.

It's great

In response to Sierra117, the swordsmithing business is great. However, I haven't quit my day job as an attorney because I like the practice and it pays more by the hour.

I have a current backlog of five commissioned pieces. My swords are forged using traditional Eastern methods: high carbon steels, layered and forged welded into a billet, then forged to shape on an anvil. Final profile done by hand before differential heat treatment. Etching is done to bring out the hamon line. Then I assemble the guard and handle. Scabbards are done in Kydex, which is where is stray from tradition.

Forgive the long post. Just fun to talk shop. This isn't a plug.

As for the CP-E/HKS kit, I've also heard great things. I chose the Forge because of its ease of install and quality fit and finish. Sounds cool, too. Cheers.

i agree at the last meet i went a guy had a forge on his and it sounds like something out of a video game.. like rlly high pitched.. more then a stock DSM BOV.. way more.

Just got mine today; can't wait to install. It's sitting on my desk at work, taunting me!

That's hilarious. It does sound like that. Now that'll be on my mind whenever the valve goes off. It also reminds me of the sound aluminum softball bats make.

The sound mellows after a while. I ended going with the red spring after racing a few stock MS3's. In my situation it seems that with the softer springs it opens a little to soon. The stockers would pull away initally then I would reign them in and fly past. With the red I stay with then wipe em.
