Forge BPV Not Pinging??

It makes sense. The design just by looking at the outside shows why. New one is like the HKS SSQV

Not really any similarity to the HKS. They operate in entirely different ways.

Less than 5 people with the GEN2 valves right now and they are all (finalized) prototypes. We haven't gotten the first run of valves back from the polishers and the anodizers.

I am not sure how close to "final" my prototype is, but I like it. ...a lot. It looks good and it works, without the (to me at least) annoying ping.

Edit: Just checked that link and mine looks like that, so I guess it is one of the "final five".

Hmmm If you do have it, would you mind taking a short video of how it sounds??

I don`t know about a video, but I`ll try and remember to make an audio recording on the way home. I have no idea how good the cell phone recorder is, so don`t be surprised if it sucks.

Your valve is a pre-final prototype I think. And is that a Battlestar Galactica reference?

I tried, but you can`t hear the valve, so I`m not bothering to post it. It just makes a "chuff" sound, which varies in volume depending on the circumstances.

well, i solved the no ping and boost drop issue. When i first got the BPV it was pretty much packed full of grease and I dint really think much of it. well after a few days of running the bpv i decided to try and add another shim to see if would hold boost better cause it seemed to only hold 14.5 to 15 psi and my stocker was holding 15.5 consistent. when I opened it up i noticed this grease liquified a bit and was all over everything inside. I decided to wipe all the grease out and wipe off the metal plunger and just put it back to how i had it (Blue spring 1 shim). To my surprise right out of first gear i heard the ping and i also noticed it was holding more boost now, Im getting a 19.5 psi spike and then settles right in to 16 and holds till about 6k then tapers down to 14. Appearently all that lubricant grease inside was causing the issue the whole time.

It needs SOME lube to function, I think but, there was a fair bit in there, I admit. As long as it works, I guess it's all good...

hey guys,

I haven't been able to locate an install or How-To guide for the Forge BPV. is there one available in the forums that I might be missing?

or is the install really that easy that no direction is necessary.

thx

Unbolt stock, replace with forge...reconnect everything you took off the stock and put it on the forge..done. Search the forum for whatever spring/shim combo youd like to run.

Which Forge BPV are you guys getting? The standard one or the piston style? What's the difference besides the $25?
