Forge BPV install and impressions.

just put this on two days ago. the sound is....weird. dont know if i like it yet or not.
it definatly works way better than stock though.

i've been using the blue spring since everyone seems to suggest it from what i've found SEARCHING. popped a shim in and got the fluttering sound. but i still get just a lil fluttering in 5th and 6th with at low boost/rpm with just the blue spring.

would one step down be yellow+2 shims?

thanks,
dont think i like the sound of this thing much though. performs great, just wish i could get rid of the ping. oh well, it was worth a shot. any one wanna buy a bpv;)

local ms3 guy had the rpmc with forge and i have the forge with no turbo inlet (its on the way) and when he revved it up for me, it had noo ping. Ive heard that the turbo inlet really changes the sound on people's blow off valves, so it wouldn't surprise me.

see i assumed the ping is something engineered into the unit itself. wouldnt think the inlet pipe would affect the sound at all. maybe he was running a tighter spring set up than you.

i noticed less ping with tighter spring/shim combo's. more, much more with just the yellow.

Owners that don't like the Forge sound seem to always come back to the Forge eventually because it is the best performing BPV for the ms3 period.

I'm go before show or sound for that matter. Just buy one of those fake blow off valves and set it to go off to cover up the ping.

Yeah mistersix you mentioned you use the yellow spring. I cant speak on behalf of your car but the yellow is meant for like under 10 psi. When I ran the yellow it was waaaaaay to sensitive. maybe it was just my car. Anyway with the blue + 2 shims i get the ping only when I hit boost. Remember sometimes a little flutter is not a bad thing.

I'm associating flutter with that fluttering sound when you let off the gas and you can hear the turbo stuttering as it winds down. And he said "a little flutter is not a bad thing".
